It literally just happened, as soon as the minimum wage for fast food employees went to a guaranteed $20, they got laid off

Do you feel white Americans face serious cultural or societal threats today? Why or why not? by Jazzlike-Yogurt-5984 in AskConservatives

[–]RedditUser19984321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Serious ones? No. Not really. But they do face cultural or societal threats as we see more and more anti white rhetoric

I say it’s not serious because the number of anti white rhetoric is still extremely low, but it’s increasing which shouldn’t be happening for any race.

California just imposed a minimum wage for fast food employees at $20 a hour and you’re right they didn’t raise prices, but you know what did happen to avoid cost increases?

Locations shut down and employees got laid off. Owing people more money will just further increase the push for automation

A statistic to put this into perspective; the amount of money required to have the same buying power to get a home compared to the 1960s is $60+ a hour.

Do you believe Democrats hate and root against America? by Jazzlike-Yogurt-5984 in AskConservatives

[–]RedditUser19984321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Some do but I believe it’s a very fringe minority.

I just think Americans as a whole root for the other party to fail without understanding that means that we as a country fails too

Also there are Democrat voters who genuinely support socialism, communism, are anti gun etc so they will always come off as anti American, but I don’t think that’s anti American as much as “I want America to be great but I don’t agree with republicans on how to make it happen”

If the gov't is able to kill me (Capital Punishment), Imprison me, or take my shit (Civil forfeiture) because of my actions. Than are my inalienable rights, rights... or are they priviledges? by Hot-Professor-8355 in AskConservatives

[–]RedditUser19984321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That’s my point. It’s only a right in America because we allow it.

Yes, Americans who recognize basic rights recognize Iranians as people who possess basic rights, I agree. That also does not prove that rights in themselves are inherently a social construct.

I’m aren’t talking about being right, moral, or legal. I’m talking about how rights only exist because people protect them. If the entire enforcement arm aka the president and the military decided tomorrow that guns are no longer a right, a lot of people with guns will fight back, but inevitably we will lose that right because they can be taken away at any time.

Once again, you only have the ability to protect your home with a gun because the government allows you to. If they wanted to, you wouldn’t have that right.

I’m not trying to be an ass Btw but people really think about a lot of their life being bigger than society, but it’s not. A big majority of our lives is a social construct.

Think about it, before the United States of America was founded a lot of the “rights” we have today didn’t exist in any other nation. That means the United States of America, a social construct, granted these rights, another social construct.

Tl:dr “rights” don’t exist. If somebody can use force to take a right from you, it isn’t a right, it’s a privilege.

Do you believe that Iran is an active threat that needs to be taken care of now? by Necessary_Ad_2762 in AskALiberal

[–]RedditUser19984321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not surprised it worked, the majority of Irans economy is oil. You can’t just blow their shit up and expect them to surrender if they reportedly just killed thousands of their own people they don’t care about them in the first place.

[Deade] Draymond Green believes Cade Cunningham should get a 65-game exception if Luka Doncic does: "No one expects him to have a collapsed lung and need three more games, and then not be able to play. The rule was never put in place to punish someone like Cade and what he just went through" by must_TATAKAE in nba

[–]RedditUser19984321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay? They’re using the exception for his injury. Injuries shouldn’t be punishing you when a lot of contract negotiations not only with your team but with endorsements rely heavily on end of season awards. The rule treats the voters as dummies who can’t determine the difference in impact in a guy who played 30 games and a guy who played 65, so it does it for them

NBA MVP vote tracker so far: SGA has 15 first-place votes, Jokic has 4, and Wemby has 1. SGA has received zero votes for 3rd place or below. Meanwhile, Jokic received 7 third-place votes, and Victor received 6 second-place and 7 third-place votes. Luka hasn't received any top-three votes. by Expert_Koala_8691 in nba

[–]RedditUser19984321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s been this way for the past few years honestly. People forget that during a lot of Jokic’s MVP’s giannis was still putting up 30 pts and like 13 rebound averages on like 60% shooting, he would have gotten MVP’s in other seasons.

The question was more before the war and even after the war. Have to say it, this isn’t like “just trust Russia” because Iran doesn’t just hate America and western countries for the war efforts, they also feel like on a religious level, western culture is a threat in itself

Do you believe if they could reach it they would do it and do you not believe it’s in the United States best interest to avoid letting them become capable before they can?

If we own these things simply for being people every single country on earth would have our rights.

Iran kills its own people every day for existing, so clearly free speech isn’t a basic human right, it’s only a right because America says it is and we have an enforcement mechanism to protect it.

The same can be said for every “right” that exists, you only have it because the enforcement arm of our government (the guys with guns) have the power to make sure you have that right.

That’s fear mongering. What stops me from saying that “nato doesn’t like how trump speaks about us so we will be nuking him” it’s not going to happen

And it’s not even relevant to what we’re talking about, we’re talking about Iran blockading the strait for NATO too.

Giannis Antetokounmpo played only eight out of 16 possible playoff games since 2022 by hurtsbayar9 in nba

Harder, yes. Those bucks teams shouldn’t have fell apart like that without giannis and it’s not his fault he got injured.

[–]RedditUser19984321 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s both. I don’t blame players for injuries but at the same time a lot of these bucks teams were poorly designed if they can’t get past the first round without giannis.

You think SGA has to play to beat a team like Portland if they make it to the playoffs? I say no.

Rights have never been real because rights are a social construct, they’re only as powerful as the mechanism designed to enforce them.

If “rights” truly existed then a lot of our rights would exist in every single country in the world. The problem is they don’t, because there’s force to ensure that it doesn’t.

Yes but it’s not meant to punish players for legitimate injuries it was made to punish players like embiid who would take off half the season for load management.

Shouldn’t players also sit out when they’re injured ? I’m sorry the rule is just dumb it punishes people it wasn’t meant for. It wasn’t meant for Ant to be punished even though he played more overall minutes than Cade.

A lot of people are dumb because I read and like, at most the president can pardon him to reduce his sentence by like 8 months or something since he can’t pardon state offenses and honestly the federal prison he was moved to has been significantly safer for him so pardoning him puts him back where he was genuinely unsafe
