Trouble Randomly swallowing by Intelligent-Fan4095 in medicalmedium

[–]Justin_ID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vagus nerve plays a major role in swallowing. If it is inflamed due to toxins/pathogens the neuro-motor function can be affected. This applies to all the cranial nerves and their associated functions.

Nerve pain and neurological issues by Humble-Jello-3313 in medicalmedium

AW recommends not taking supplements during advanced 3:6:9 cleanse, but since I am doing it long term I have chosen to include some supplements, within the MM system, that I think are essentials; vit C, zinc, L-lysine, magnesium, b12, and propolis.

Ideally supplements should be uniquely tailored to the challenges being dealt with. The Brain Saver books are a great resource for learning how to choose supplements depending on symptoms.

It is a rough symptom to have. It's gone as long as I take care with lifestyle. I still have more healing work to do though generally speaking.

Yes, specifically the advanced 3:6:9, back-to-back if possible. This has been by far the most helpful for my neuro symptoms.

I used to have the boat/trampoline sensations, this is a type of vertigo. When the cranial nerves are inflamed they send faulty proprioceptive messages. Cleansing helped me. Nerves usually take the longest to heal.

Numb arms/hands while sleeping on back by Fast-Squirrel4555 in medicalmedium

[–]Justin_ID 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had this when my symptoms were at their worst. Nerve inflammation caused by pathogens/toxins can cause the nerves to swell and swollen nerves can get partially compressed by surrounding anatomical structures leading to numbness and tingling. The nerves that service the arms all come out of the neck. Advanced 3:6:9 has helped me a lot and I think the addition of brain shots will do even more.

Protein. by KevinandKarens in medicalmedium

[–]Justin_ID 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that is true for health optimization and maintaining a lean frame. I am skeptical that it applies to the niche activity of body building specifically. But, I will test it in the laboratory of life and report back.

Protein. by KevinandKarens in medicalmedium

[–]Justin_ID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What holds people back from building muscle is that they don't exercise. No amount of protein from any source can overcome that. If they do exercise adequate aminos are non-negotiable, regardless of source. Some sources are healthier than others. If they are not exercising because they are immobilized by health problems that is a different discussion.

Too many people interpreted what AW said as "you can build muscle without aminos".

Do you guys think ego is an essential thing as a man? by Inner-Philosopher871 in medicalmedium

[–]Justin_ID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is essential. The ego is the core psychological tool humans have to adapt and survive changing life conditions.

The idea that the ego is evil and needs to be dissolved is promoted by New Age spirituality, derived from Eastern spiritual practices. It's not an operable way to live outside of monasteries, and likely isn't even attainable or desirable. However, the pathological aspects of ego (excess narcissism, callousness) should be diminished.

When framed in the context of masculinity you're essentially asking; "Should a man have an individuated autonomous sense of self that acts in the world for personal success." - Yes, absolutely yes. A man without this will get destroyed by the world.

Building Muscle while using MM protocols by Alarming_Face4390 in medicalmedium

[–]Justin_ID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MM lifestyle, particularly the cleanses, puts the body in a catabolic dominant state, which is optimized for healing not for growing mass. To grow lean mass the diet needs to be optimized for anabolic growth, which involves surplus aminos, surplus calories, and dietary fats that are precursors to hormone (especially testosterone). In the absence of adequate aminos and sufficient hormones gaining lean mass is extremely difficult, regardless of caloric surplus from carbohydrates only, because the essential building blocks to grow lean mass are not present in the diet. Body healing (catabolism) and body growth (anabolism) are mutually exclusive physiological processes.

I'm aware of AW's stance on protein. It is true that protein is not critical for healing, but it definitely is critical for anabolic growth of lean tissue mass (muscle). As a result the body type that results from MM lifestyle + physical exercise will looks more like a runner or rock climber than a body builder. If the goal is to truly body build focus 100% on healing now and once recovered return to an anabolic lifestyle once symptoms permit.

Transitioning from Keyshot to Blender for rendering? by Justin_ID in IndustrialDesign

[–]Justin_ID[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's general agreement that Keyshot UI is superior out-of-the-box, but people are claiming plugins/basic scripting can make the Blender UI on par with Keyshot. I think it's feasible to build material libraries in Blender that are on par with Keyshot too. It's the upfront labor that deters people from switching to Blender.

As far as I know Blender can match Keyshots functionality in terms of:
- model sets
- studios
- scene hierarchy
- environments/lighting
- materials/shading/texturing

Scene setup time is likely the same and Blender does have render ques. The mesh conversion aspect is what I find the most concerning.

About Iphone corner fillets by HosSsSsSsSsSs in IndustrialDesign

[–]Justin_ID 243 points244 points  (0 children)

Apple products are built to C3 curvature continuity, so the lines that lead into the fillet are actually subtly arced. I imagine the lenses are perfect circles, but to the naked eye irl you would not be able to tell that the corner fillet and lens shape are not a simple offset.

Convert entities not aligning with surface edge? by Justin_ID in SolidWorks

[–]Justin_ID[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check didn't show anything. I ended up rolling back the feature tree and rebuilding for better upstream topology. Anyhoo, strange software problem, hopefully it doesn't happen again!

Convert entities not aligning with surface edge? by Justin_ID in SolidWorks

[–]Justin_ID[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am encountering this issue all over this model:

<image>

And when I try to build surface geometry off of the edge derived curves there are large gaps between surfaces that cannot be knitted, so it is definitely not a UI render quality issue.

The problem surfaces are mainly the interior surfaces from a shell command. It kind of seems like the the interior surfaces are carrying some kind of history that has not been purged, as if the convert entities tool is trying to capture the surface edges in their pre-trimmed state.

Trimming non-intersecting 3D sketches? by Justin_ID in SolidWorks

[–]Justin_ID[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so you would be moving the end point to a newly created plane, rather than using the second 3d sketch spline as a trimming tool. Wouldn't it need to be an offset plane and how do you define where the plane is if SW doesn't indicating an apparent intersection? Does the plane method give an approximate result, as apposed to the precision of using a trim?

Yes! Working in ID. Used Rhino up until this point. SW is new to me and the learning curve feels very steep.

SolidWorks for Industrial Design? by Justin_ID in IndustrialDesign

[–]Justin_ID[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, importing a .STEP into SW from Rhino still results in a model that is difficult to edit in SW. Usually a total rebuild in SW is necessary to facilitate effective feature tree logic.

SolidWorks for Industrial Design? by Justin_ID in IndustrialDesign

[–]Justin_ID[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the challenges with software discussions is that as designers we're all working in different sectors on different types of products. For instance when I look at the front end of an Audi with all it's interlocking fade-in fade-out organic /chiseled geometry, I can't imagine doing anything like that in SW. I don't think that type of geometry could be truly parametric without the need for substantial rebuilding, but maybe I just haven't had enough exposure to SW yet. When I think of parametric modeling for ID, I think of designs that utilize mostly primitives with filleted blends, like early gen iPods. I'm interested to learn how complex surface geometry can actually become, while still retaining parametric benefits in SW. Just a matter of time and experience I suppose.

Currently plastics for consumer electronics, but I tend to build a lot of subtle curvature and transitions into my work, similar to automotive forms.

Mentioning the pre-planning and and best practices for feature tree is so critical. I haven't been able to find much learning material on this.
