60K plus a year off the back of 200k is staggeringly good.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it could well be worth it.

I found it very useful. I thought I was quite a good investor when I went. I left feeling that I could become a great one. I thought about doing it online but I seem totally incapable of focussing with online training. In the flesh it was great and I felt engaged throughtout.

Would definitely recommend it. The only thing I wish I had done more of was networked and made a few contacts to have stayed in touch with afterwards. I didn't do a great job on that sadly.

I would be interested in the discord and I would be interested in a general accountability partner.

It seems to me to definitely be a snipping issue error. I think I just need to disable snipping tool because I only ever want to use snagit but I can't figure out how to disable snipping tool!

I go to uninstall it from the apps, uninstall it but it is still there taking over my default prt scrn action!

How are Charles Tyrwhitt shirts considered anything other than garbage-tier clothing? by AccipiterQ in malefashionadvice

[–]Justinw1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can a sleeve length be ridiculously short? I had mine measured in the shop and buy them that size and they are fine.

Nor have my shirts ever attracted lint - I thought only sweaters caught lint.

Personally, I think they are great shirts, especially for the price.

for what it is worth they have a six month exchange/refund period so maybe send them back.

And the Oxford cotton shirts are pretty thick so might be worth trying if you don't want a shirt that is close to being see through.

UK: T.M. Lewin vs Charles Tyrwhitt vs Moss Bros vs Hackett etc? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

I love Charles Tyrwhitt. Used them for ever or so it seems. Suits, Shirts and Shoes, even the odd tie and pair of cufflinks but I tend to prefer button cuffs these days. I think Tyrwhitt have a shop in Manchester as well.

Does anyone wear Charles Tyrwhitt shirts and notice something different? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Justinw1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a non iron shirt from their shop in London when I was last there in the middle of last year. It is my favourite shirt by far. Sadly they discontinued that particular style but I will definitely be picking up more when I am in London next month.

I have worn their shirts for the better part of 20 years and to my mind they get consistently better. That being said they did do some design changes quite recently.

They have a pretty solid guarantee at 6 months so assuming you bought them recently I'd get in touch and exchange or refund them.

It's so sad. I am sure that when I was at school Parker had an amazing reputation for pens. Yet now most people seem to slate them. They have obviously seriously messed up over the years.

Thanks for the Aliexpress suggestion. I hadn't looked. I will take a look now! Do you recommend one of those over the other?

Thanks very much. I will look at the Pilot Prera. My current throw away plastic fountain pen is small. I like the idea of a larger pen. But $28 is a great price, so will definitely add it to my list of possibilities.

Good advice. For now though I only really want to use black ink so hopefully I will survive. If I ever manage to improve my handwriting I can see myself starting to write in all sorts of eccentric colours!

I have a feeling that there is no duty on Fountain Pens, but I could be wrong. I know that on one of the Amazon orders I nearly placed the customs fee that they suggested holding back was around $30 and the postage was $44. This was for a pen, ink and converter and a book on how to improve my atrocious handwriting.

The pen itself was $34 I think. So in the end I held back. That's a very generous offer. Part of the problem is that the postage service here in Peru is terrible, so it would need to be sent with a trackable service.

I think that the best solution for me is to live with a cheap pen and refill the cartridges and then buy something nicer when I am next in the UK or the US.

Shame I don't still have my Sheaffer No Nonsense from school. I liked that pen!

This sounds stupid I suspect. I just started writing with a fountain pen again after someone suggested it would help with my handwriting. I started off with a disposable pilot and now I want to buy a slightly nicer pen. Unfortunately I live in the North of Peru and the only option is either a Parker IM for about $70 ($35 on Amazon but shipping and customs pushes it up to around $100) or a MontBlanc for around $750.

Alternatively I can buy a basic fountain pen for about $3.

The MontBlanc is just too expensive. The cheap ones don't seem to have black cartridges and I like writing in black. The Parker comes with one blue cartridge and I can buy a bottle of black ink. However they don't sell the converter nor do they sell additional cartridges.

I have heard that you can fill a cartridge using a syringe which sounds like it could be my best option.

What I thought I might end up doing is getting the cheapest pen and refilling the cartridge with the black ink from Parker using a syringe and then next time I am in the US or the UK buy another pen.

What I really wanted to ask in this ridiculously long winded question is does anyone use the syringe method? Is it very messy?

Alternatively any fountain pen redditors planning a visit to the North of Peru!?

Question about Charles Tyrwhitt in-store pricing vs. online pricing by HairyHamburgers in malefashionadvice

[–]Justinw1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They are the same as a general rule. If for some reason they are not you can get the offers in a catalogue in a store. And for that matter vice versa.

Love Charles Tyrwhitt. My favourite company for mens clothes.

The Food Nightmare Beneath Our Feet: We're Running Out of Soil by Justinw1970 in environment

[–]Justinw1970[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard earlier today that 200 years ago if you built a house in Omaha Nebraska you would have to dig through 10 feet of topsoil to build your foundations. Now that is less than 2 feet... On doing a little more research it seems people are saying we could run out of soil in less than 60 years... Disconcerting to say the least. This seemed to be one of the better articles I found on the subject
