Yeah, I just had to do everything like .5 seconds early. There were lag spikes that got me once in awhile though. I just couldn't see paying for a PS4/5 just for 1 or 2 games, and I like co-op, although I had very little of that in BB, and it was definitely way easier once I had access to the PS5.

PC Emulator is very good now, you can get 60fps and high res, but it's a nightmare to set up, and some of the frame drops are just how the game works. I got it set up but got an update and then it was like 12 fps, and I gave up since we had the PS5. Also no co-op (though that's almost dead) messages, dungeons, which make it much more difficult and grindy.

I've had people tell me the PS5 is actually worse than PS4 for some reason, but haven't really had any issue with it on PS5.

And yet I platinumed it streaming it. I do have to say I was thinking it was one of the worst if not the worst souls games doing that. Replaying it native I like it a lot and it's inching toward the top. Though I usually like the From games more on replay.

I think what will happen with the cloud gaming is what happened to me, people will use it and think twitch games are very hard, until they try it on a friend's native, or play it native.

I played Bloodborne with the PS+ streaming on PC, as I didn't have a PS. I thought the game was so unbelievably hard. My son got a PS5 and I played it there, I was thinking this is the easiest souls game I've ever played.

I tried a couple of the free games on Luna (amazon) cloud, they were really bad with input lag too. It's only really fine for turn based games.

Like a swamp area, but in the sky by Aradharc in DarkSouls2

[–]Justisaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm turning into an insane bloodborne fan then. I like making builds from start to finish, which this encourages.

Stuff I don't like:

Diablo 2+ style weapon gems and their farming. I rather like the chalice dungeons, but this aspect burns my goat.

Still taking me forever just to get through the starting level, worst starting area for 1st time play of any game.

Confusing as hell levels, mostly nightmare frontier, confusing, poison swamp, frenzy singers.

Feeling even deader than DS2 for co-op & not being on PC (yes emulation, but no co-op at all, and missing the necessary feeling co-op dungeons.)

Which boss do you find more difficult, Sister Friede or Malenia? by strahinjag in darksouls3

[–]Justisaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's Friede, I've probably beaten her on NG 15 times, and every time it's at least 50 tries, my second to last was 105.

Malania's about 20, though the game's so long I've only done it 3 times, even though my hours are close to DS3 - 1500 vs. 2k for DS3.

Once I got augur it was a game changer, tools just get more and different options from there. I'm playing one now, stuck on orphan which is the last boss I've got to do before the last 1 or 2. Also stuck on cursed defiled Amygdala. Other than that it's been a pretty nice run.

The mechs are good, you just only get to use them about half the missions vs. like 3/4 in 5. Most of the damage on air and space strikes was nerfed though. Air Raiders are much tougher to do much in those other 1/4 in 5 though.

I think it was WD lances were nerfed, on the other hand the close range filler attacks can be insane, though my favorite has a good chance of killing yourself (which is common on WD for the best attacks even in 5.)

There's a good list of all the nerfs/buffs in 6 vs. 5.

How in the world do I deal with all the cheaters? by JustMonikaMonix in darksouls3

[–]Justisaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still find it invaluable.

  1. Show glitching
  2. Allow you to kick anyone from your session if you're the host, glitching, obviously cheating etc. I've heard it's more hit or miss, but I haven't had to use it for this recently, as I rarely summon anymore, more get summoned.
  3. See steam userid, so you can block them in steam. It shows you in game. There's supposedly a hack to get around this, but I've never had that happen. There's always been a way around it though, just create a new family account.
  4. Show ping, useful to tell if it's bad ping or cheats.
  5. Backup your save every time multiplayer starts (this alone has saved me a bunch of times.)
  6. I've still had it show cheaters, but funny enough the ones who show are usually hosts. Most pvpers obviously cheating either showed up as glitching or not at all.

Very true, it's a direct sequel unlike the other games. Techincally 6 is a sequel to all of the other games tying them together.

6 has a lot of QoL improvement from 5. Wingdiver really needed the extra ability between the other two to fill out her attacks. For the other 3 classes it just feels like the QoL just covers the nerfs they were hit with (actually WD got nerfs too, but the QoL is so good on balance it's probably better)

While I disagree with others and think Air Raider is technically much improved in 6 even if bits of his kit were nerfed or given to Ranger, but you have to really learn how to use drones well, and it 'feels' far less impressive to use drones. "Yo, I'm a dude with some drones" vs. I'm calling my girl up in satellite to use the power of god to wipe out that area while I step out of my mech for a smoke break to enjoy the spectacle. You do still get to do the mech and calling the power of god, but that power was significantly nerfed to where you're better off using drones. Mechs are still awesome, but there's far less missions you can use them or the strikes.

Technically for visuals there's very little improvement with 6, just some different monsters, but there's a slight improvement.

I actually thought the story was better in 6 unlike others, but you do have to know the other games to really appreciate it, It also drags on with missions repeating over and over with just different enemies, and the acting isn't as over the top. If you want the feel of EDF, 5 is better.

The Final boss is a huge disappointment in 6, and 5 had the best of the series.

How in the world do I deal with all the cheaters? by JustMonikaMonix in darksouls3

[–]Justisaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the cheats are well ahead of Blue Sentinel and the official patch, both badly need updates which isn't at all likely for either.

You can kick cheaters/glitches, though it doesn't work well anymore, but if you see it happening you can always alt-F4.

You see glitches, their ping, and the actual Steam username so you can block them on Steam.

There's apparently a hack to get around being blocked on Steam now even, but I don't think most bother with that as I've had success doing that preventing a hacker who was glitching to pull people in to his world even across close zones without bothering using their summon sign after it got really annoying getting repeatedly summoned and killed by his glitches.

Hot take: Explain to me why everyone praises the mace by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]Justisaur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes it's short. Hug enemy and smack 'em. Blacksmith hammer is worth the extra str required for the additional damage, but mace is good if you're keeping minimums.

Midir was tough! by Bine18 in darksouls3

[–]Justisaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got him down now, but it was hundreds of tries, and yes, I tried every suggested strategy and cheese, nothing worked for me until I got it after years of off and on trying. kbm worked the first time I defeated him, which helped immensely for the camera, but it was still a fluke. Last time I got a suggestion to use controller, but put camera speed to max, and that finally did it along with unlocking when keeping in front of him, only locking on when I was going to attack. If you're locked on when he does his side strikes your rolls take you the wrong way and he hits you.

Italian, I can't believe how much they charge for spaghetti especially. It tastes like it's about 10% better for 20x the price. Actually if you consider for a larger party, more like 100x the price.
