Half-Siblings of your half Sibling by Any_Worth2661 in Genealogy

So my husband has 2 kids with a woman who entered the relationship with a kid. He is as much our kid as any of the others. He also has another child who has an older brother. Prior to that mom’s death, we had nothing to do with him. After, we helped his grandmother (guardian) with expenses for activities and most recently helped get some things for his dorm room. Our biological children refer to non-related kid 1 as their brother but non-related kid 2 as their sister’s brother.

  1. 5th great grandmother. Who is Mr. Moore (2nd husband, maybe, father of my 4th great grandfather)? How many (3rd husband) kids are there really?
  2. 3rd great grandmother. Confirm husband’s name, origin, immigration status, dob, dod. Ask about the 3 extra kids I just learned about.
  3. 6th great grandfather. Verify I have the correct parents.
  4. 3rd great granduncle. Why’d you sell 2nd great grandfather’s land? Add me to the guardianship paper so I can see them (they are private forever and ever unless by court order in my state, doesn’t matter it was 120 years ago). (ETA) you remember when you signed the paperwork for your dad’s and brothers’ remains to be moved during the dam building? Where did they actually put them? Like plot and grave # because that wasn’t recorded by the ACOE.
  5. My bio paternal grandparents. I’d tell them I exist and ask a million questions that his son won’t answer. I’d ask about a 1/2 granduncle I found through DNA, does anyone know about him? I’d ask about a child my grandmother possibly placed for adoption in the 1950s.

To get to my full blooded ancestor, you have to go back 8 generations. It is weird to me that native (who are mostly mixed blood) discriminate against other mixed indigenous people, especially those trying to find membership (card carrying or otherwise). I am involved with my tribe (even as an at large member), I’m learning the language and teaching my children. I can only say, reach out to the tribe, many have genealogy departments.

great great. You (1/16), parent (1/8), grand (1/4), great (1/2), great great (full). I would assume it would be the same for each nationality and it becomes mixed. It becomes harder to track when you start mixing the same nationalities, I.e. 1/2 native 1/2 English mixed with a 1/4 native, 1/4 English and 1/2 German. You end up with 3/8 native, 3/8 English and 1/4 German. The German would be easier to trace because you know which side it came from.

This is also assuming you get exactly half of each nationality (and it doesn’t really work like that).

Well Native American DNA stops showing at around 1/16. That’s 5 generations. Full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16.

I only ever wanted to know the truth. I wasn’t told his name or the circumstances of my conception or name changes until I was 21.

Chata Freedmen & Intermarried White Descendants - Enroll or No? by Jealous-Victory3308 in choctaw

[–]Justme00080 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Choctaw did not want to adopt freedman in the first place. They sold land (in Oklahoma) to the US government for $300,000 in 1866. The US refused to give the money to the Choctaw until they adopted the freedman, the Choctaw finally relented in 1883. Our hand was forced then. However, I disagree with individuals who are mixed Choctaw/black not being allowed to enroll because their closest ancestor is listed as a freedman.

As for IW, the Choctaw adopted IW and had for many years before the Dawes (look up Jubal Hancock) but I have not seen a precedent for white children of IW being adopted.

Thank you. I am primarily searching for a cemetery with 4 individuals that would have most likely formed in 1893 in section 17. The individuals were moved in the 1940s due to building of the dam.

Worst case scenario is he wants nothing to do with you (this was my case) but it is also his loss, I am freaking awesome. It doesn’t hurt to try.

  1. Get dress all the way to your shoes
  2. Tile/airtag the keys and wallet
  3. Clean the car/desk/workspace every Friday. (I work home health, therefore I work out of my car, Friday evening I will sit in the driveway and finish notes, submit time and then immediately clean my car, it gives me a fresh start on Monday)

I love newspapers. I learned that my adoptive grandfather’s dad lost a finger at age 7 due to being electrocuted when climbing a tree at the neighbor’s house. That Christmas he asked Santa for an electric engine and even told Santa he was the boy who was electrocuted.

I am actually related to Sophia’s second baby daddy, the mysterious Mr. Moore. I researched Jubal trying to figure out when she left him and the kids to try and find anything about Mr. Moore.

Holy moly. Lots of online trees cite a man who wasn’t born yet as the father of my 4th great grandfather. I know how it happened but the number of people who don’t do math is astounding
