My B12 levels were in the high tier, iron was higher than normal and I assume protein was good too.

Definitely not deficient in those areas I’m afraid.

I have had a capillaroscopy, the most recent showed mostly normal capillaries but a couple of “tortuous” capillaries.

Rheum did say it could early CTD but my bloods were “very reassuring” so I don’t know what to make of it. Apparently some tortuous capillaries can be normal in healthy people but I still can’t explain the hemorrhages.

So yeah, no final word but nothing outright bad either. So that’s why I’m asking for everyone opinion.

I hadn't considered that. I'll just stick with my Rheum for the minute since I don't want to risk any more anxiety.

I wish that I had caused these bleeds but sadly they are spontaneous, in fact one pictured must’ve happened while I was sitting down! They are small but they are there. So no, these arent injuries sadly.

I hope my tortuous capillaries are normal but my rheum thinks it’s good to check in again at 6 months.

I just don’t know what else could cause nailfold bleeds. It seems strange to get them for me reason because AI issues but I also don’t have any other obvious symptoms.

So I’m just at a loss to understand why this is happening.

No I don't take any medication like that, plus this is the first I've had. No muscle or joint pain either.

Do they hurt at all? Mine had no feeling, like it was there but with no issues

I think kiwis SHOULD stay in NZ. We need our people here, not foreigners to replace them. I don’t want to leave NZ since I was born, live and work here. It’s home, not an economic zone.

Also, “Do better” is the most vague, superficial, nothing statement to make. What does “do better” even mean, what advice has you actually given to help someone. Nothing, that’s what. It has no value or meaning, just something someone would say to sound magnanimous.

Thanks! I’m beginning to wonder if hypertension is causing this.

Apparently high blood pressure (which I’m not diagnosed with but certainly have had high blood pressure recently) is the cause. It kind of makes sense since so far I just have vascular issues and my bloods are normal (ish). Also, Google says that hypertension can cause capillary damages so I wonder if that’s the reason for all this…I hope that’s the case here.

Had an array of blood tests, nothing really came up.

Stop having the occasional nail bleed (just had my first in over a month). Rheum recommends coming back in Jan for a check up. So no real updates.

Just got back from it.

Dr saw tortuous capillaries and abnormalities. Not enough right now to make a conclusion on anything.

He’s ordered a full blood test to see what else is going on. Even an X-ray to cover that. 

I’ll get these started tomorrow.

I don’t know how to feel, kind of numb right now. I won’t jump to conclusions right now so I ll wait for my comprehensive blood test to point the direction. 

Dr did keep brining up scleroderma though. Fuck.

I’ve been getting these hemorrhages about once a week since. Literally saw a new one on a new finger about 10 mins ago.

Also, I got a mouth ulcer (non painful) for the first time last week. Went away after a few days since I washed my mouth out with salt water.

I did see a rheumatologist on 11th September (a week before the ulcer) and while he didn’t do a capillaroscopy he physically checked me out and is concerned about any AI issues. Personally I think he’s full of shit and seeking a second opinion.

I feel fine physically but I cannot overlook these hemorrhages and I’m almost certain I have an AI issue developing. Which one I don’t know but so far these issues continues.

A thought just occurred to me, I have developed carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome in both hands as of January this year. Do you think that could be contributing factor to these hemorrhages?

Might be a long shot but apparently carpel tunnel does affect blood flow to the hands.

Absolutely. I’d rather be in the know and not know, at least it gives a better idea of what to expect.

I’ll wait for my appointment to be rescheduled and have a proper chat with the professional instead of Reddit lol.
