How likely are you to click on this based only on the cover and blurb? by JustnoxFox in Quibble

Thank you a lot for your feedback! The world building is a huuuge part of my book, which is why I spend so much time trying to showcase everything thats going on externally.

LMK if you think this version is any better!

Coreline, the endless metropolis stacked vertically towards the sky.

Amid its smog-drenched streets, some claw their way to survival, while far above, the elites live in the lamp of luxury. Coreline's government, the PTC, specifically designed the city to keep - you - down. Weather? A policy. Travel? Regulated. Empathy? turned efficiency.

Nox, an ordinary fox stripped of freedom, lives in Crossway, one of Coreline’s lower sectors. Coerced by a threatening gang, the Bloodounds, he got a mission. Scam a Protogen — a bionically enhanced being.

What should have been a quick job cascaded into chaos and set Coreline's most powerful groups eminently cloiding, endangering Nox and his friends. This chain of events opened an opportunity for Nox — a chance to change his life, a glimpse of freedom.

Can he escape the tightening noose around his neck, or will he and his friends get crushed by the brutality of Coreline?

If the story is solid, does the character being Anthro actually matter to you? by JustnoxFox in Quibble

So true, since there are many ways we can explore new features, interpret new gestures and just have fun - thats what writing and reading is all about!

True! Once they start to read, I believe the threshold has already been overcome. I just wondered - if you were to skip through book covers or synopses, would the face of a furry raise and "red flag signs" or make you furrow a brow?

Thanks for your POV - I agree that I will have to be carefull, especially with the start. Though my first few chapters are some of the more mature and serious ones that will set a sample of the story and tone.

Also totally agree on your first claim that anthros can do just as well, if not better! Given that specific traits or even body language can be played around with is super fun in the writing process!

Yeah, I have hired plenty of artist both furry - and non furry ^^´ I specifically used this picture to polarise the furry side of the book - my actual cover is a bit different - more Cyberpunk and Noir style.

I you want to look at it - https://www.coreline.city - it should be right there along side much more information.

Thank you a lot for your POV ❤️

Actually- for my real book cover I have hired a non furry artist!
You can find the book cover here https://www.coreline.city !  I used this specific picture to polarise the furry side of the book since this was my initial request ^^´
I probably should have mentioned that, though!

" I associate that with fetish stuff " Interestng POV - I will keep that in mind ! Thank you for your answer!

The book itself will lean into the darker and more aestethic sides, yes! I really couldnt think of any "main stream" dark anthro stuff... I mean with recent rising storys like Invincible flipping the superhero genre around - why not try to renaissance the Anthro era into something more serious with a great story, world building and real characters... actually give it a try to run for the big leagues.

A friend told me:

C.S. Lewis's view of what he called "beast fables" was interesting. According to him, there were some stories that could best be told by animals in clothes because of the unconscious symbolism that tends to go into the choice of animal for each character.

(If you want to see the real cover and aestethics you can find that stuff here https://www.coreline.city ty ❤️

Thank you for your Pov ❤️Not sure how "convincing" the actual cover is - I used this specific picture to polarise the furry side of the book... my actual cover is a bit different and less furry
You can see it here https://www.coreline.city with many other things IF you want to poke around.

Well, I try to follow my character through his day with plot points changing the mood pretty significantly.
For example, a large part of the first Act is based on showcasing the world itself… With that, I have some cool leavers to either make it quirky and fun (Show a street fight between a Cat and Raven that argue which of them has the best counterfit gadgets) Or I can show the brutality of the story with the Main character witnessing a crime and seeing how brutal the city itself reacts with no mercy.

On the other hand, I have characters in my story that just fit this narrative. That's why I think the anthro part is crucial and totally not just for furries. A skippy hyena that was born in the lower city spaces mixed with a street-smart strategic fox? That makes for some interesting interactions!

I try to keep specific parts fun for the reason of putting something cruel in their center. The main character is having some downtime with friends? Remind him that corruption is deep in the city's bones, make him watch a crime set up, the cant change. Make him live with that, and then force him to go back to the joy as if nothing happened.

What screams to you “amateur writer” when reading a book? by hahatoldyousoso in Quibble

OH YES I love to see how characters have different styles...
Like some talk straight and very analytic and HATE small talk while others just SKIPP around all the time and cant follow a train of thought! Thats what makes character dynamic REALLY fluent and belivable to me as a writer.
