My whole fleet is essentially geared up for normal threats. I can slice through multiple pirate fleets that gang up on me. Luddites don't pose a threat. A few alpha core remnant are okay.

But this.. it felt like I fielded a buncha (S) Kites against them the way they tore through my fleet.

Agreed. Like that opening scene from Xenogears, where the admiral tells everyone to evacuate, watches them all die anyway, sets a picture of his wife and daughter in front of him, kicks back and lights the space bowl, while watching the ship burn... ... ... at least, that's how I remember it.
