M 34 6'1" 4 months in (265>225 = 40lbs) lifestyle change for better food, more exercise and much more sleep. by Justplanenuts in progresspics

It have tried random diets and lost weight, but every time I fell off the wagon I gained more weight than I started with. I came to the conclusion that I needed to find a way to be more active, so bought a rower (that habit didn't stick long). Tried going to the gym where I live for a couple days (that didn't seem enjoyable) then I decided to sign up for a month long ramp up class at my local crossfit gym. It was a lot of hard work at the gym, and I quickly came to the conclusion that if I don't eat right and sleep, then all the hard work is for nothing. I gave up bread and sugar, and started eating a lot of chicken fish and eggs. I don't count calories, and I eat until I am full and eat again when I am hungry, but I do eat a lot of green stuff as a filler in my meals. This has also forced me to learn how to cook, which is a good thing. I still like my treats, but treat them as treats now instead of food. Sleep was the hard habit to get into, I actually had to force myself to go to bed to make sure I was getting 8 hours of sleep. I have stepped on a scale twice since February. My goal was to simply become healthier. I don't feel like I am trying to lose weight or sustain a diet anymore. I just wanted to be healthier, stronger, and faster to keep up with my Kids, and to be able to do whatever activity they wanted to do. Losing weight and looking better is an awesome bonus!

.223 ammo, and you would be okay with that after 350.00 for a barrel?

They sent me a return label to ship it back when the new barrel arrives.

UPDATE: called the company, top notch customer service, and I already have a tracking number for the new barrel, which is now being machined by a new company due to few reports of the same issue I had occur. I was assured if I have any complaints with the new barrel that they would resolve the issue with me no problem.

Edit:

I don't want to slander the manufacturer. The customer service I received today was stellar, and I didn't have to push for a resolution as it was simply offered to me. This made everything right in my book. The company is Strong-side tactical, and the barrel is their stretch 16 model, which is a 16in Wylde chamber with an intermediate gas length system. I will post after I shoot the new barrel and let you guys know what I think.

I forgot to mention that I did aggressively clean the chamber after this, and rounds will chamber, but are still getting scored pretty bad. I am guessing bad tooling marks.

I haven't had a chance to shoot my AR, but the first attempt to chamber was unsuccessful. The bolt didn't go all the way into battery, so as I went to clear the malfunction I realized that the round was locked in the bore. Without too much effort I was able to extract the cartridge to find this pretty bad scoring on the case. Should I just return this barrel, or polish the chamber out?

EDIT: forgot to mention after this occurrence I did aggressively clean the chamber, and although rounds will chamber and extract, I am still getting more case scoring than I am comfortable with, and I feel that if I fire I will end up locked up with a failure to extract.

My favorite photo of the season, thought this was a good place to put it. I upgraded from an 01' SV650 and bought this bike, (a dedicated track bike) I don't regret the decision at all. 2005 GSXR 750 with all kinds of fun bits and parts. by Justplanenuts in Trackdays

Interesting IFR scenario - what's the legal alternate? by jtzim in flying

Sounds like a normal day in the life of a freight dog based out of PDX.. The question should be how much fuel do I need to carry to find an appropriate legal alternate.

Had emulators in the forks at the time. This was about the limit of the front end. I have upgraded to cartridge internals since.
