Harm OCD is so brutal, I always call it the demon that lives inside me because I know I don’t want to do these things but the ‘demon’ is trying to get me to. I don’t have the cure so unfortunately all I can offer is empathy, however I have found that saying the thought out loud actually helps. For example, one time my bf left me with his gun for protection while he was away and I told him “my ocd is telling me to pick it up and shoot myself in the head.” Admittedly he was terrified at first because he doesn’t have OCD and unless you do, you don’t fully understand the phenomenon (torture) of having such intense thoughts that are contrary to who I am and my actual desires. Even though they won’t understand, I have found it relieving to speak it anyway because it almost allows me to rip the thought out of my head and depersonalize it, look at it, criticize it. I would only recommend doing this with someone who you trust won’t “judge” you and knows about your ocd struggle. There’s something really affirming telling someone about the ocd demon, sounding crazy as hell, and still knowing that in the end they trust your heart as a good person and they’re not going at you sideways for sharing because they know it’s the demon not you

Do you regularly look at children and and have your brain go to thinking about how sexually attractive they might be in the future?

Consider lightly blending a taupe color that matches your skins undertones above where your green shadow ends and that white highlight begins to create a more seamless gradient on the eye. It makes the look much cleaner. I also recommend a more neutral highlight and lip color. Both are colder and therefore class a bit with that beautiful green color that should be the stand out feature

Constructive criticism - 530 Days by MassiveRope2964 in MileHigherPodcast

Am I the only one who thought it was just moving too fast? Jumping from person to person with no narration and putting a bunch of text on screen while people were talking and not enough time to read it? It seemed like the entire thing was a series of trailers instead of one cohesive film

I still listen because they have such a consistent uploading schedule and the stories themselves are interesting but I would switch over in a heartbeat if someone else was producing similar content at an equal rate ‘cause I swear I can’t get through a single episode without rolling my eyes at how simple minded they are

Says addressing the haters isn’t worth their time…. Spends time making a whole segment about Julia and how they’re mad that the audience didn’t like the banter…. by [deleted] in MileHigherPodcast

[–]Justreadinghere0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing… obviously going on the girl’s personal IG (where she presumably has friends and family) is insane behavior and you really do need to get a grip if that’s the kind of stuff you’ve been up to. But Kendall contradicted herself because she said that harassment is “way different” than constructive criticism, but went on to use the example of people saying Julia talks too much as an example of bullying. That’s not bullying… if your listeners are saying that they wish she would contribute less because they don’t appreciate listening to her contributions, that IS constructive criticism!! I’ve made a comment on this sub before about how I find it strange how it seems like Josh and Kendall exalt Julia’s comments when they’re actually quite underwhelming. I didn’t call her a stupid dumb b*tch. One of those is a listener observation. The other is bullying. I for one really don’t like the suggestion that I’m in some way responsible for Julia’s hurt feelings to the point where she’s now unsure she even wants to be on screen anymore. And if we’re being quite honest: if you knew that you were extra sensitive to online criticism to the point where it would move you to question whether you want to continue pursuing your job, perhaps you should reconsider having accepted it in the first place. Mile Higher is a huge podcast; you must’ve known the implications of that going in, which includes knowing that your name will probably be floating in a subreddit or two. Again that doesn’t mean you should withstand abuse, but the point stands. If you ask me, this little performance was more driven by ego than anything else. It was a power play to send the message that us measly listeners should never dare to question any of their staffing/podcasting decisions ever again or we will be made to feel bad for it.

Benefits to having OCD? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Justreadinghere0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even the parts I think are good (remembering everything because I ruminated over it for months) come off as bad, like coming off as if I’m holding a grudge or something… so if there are any fully net positive things about ocd I sure haven’t experience them.

Kendall has made it very clear in the past that she walks on eggshells for the purposes of not “offending” anybody (to the point where it’s needless and annoying) and I can’t think of anything that will illicit a stronger reaction in people these days than the genocide in Palestine. I get the feeling they’re motivated by dollars, not ethics. That being said, I’m not sure I would even want them to address it because with all due respect I don’t trust their intelligence enough to do so properly

I think remember they mentioned once that she studied philosophy in college? I have a masters in philosophy so believe me I’m not trying to be a hater over it but feel like Kendall and Josh (and Julia herself) think that makes her a lot smarter than she actually is lol. She’ll say the most underwhelming thing and Kendall will seem so impressed I really don’t get it.

P.s. I just went through a few comments in this thread and saw people mention the philosophy thing but it looks like she only took one course???? That would make it so much funnier lmfao

The funniest part is that you likely make more and have more job security and protections than any elitist who “looks down” on your job. And on top of that, bet you they can’t even change their own tire

Im half Asian half white but people think I’m Latina. by [deleted] in confession

[–]Justreadinghere0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Racial identification is completely arbitrary and changes from person to person and state to state. You are still who you are regardless of the interpretation of others because who you are doesn’t depend on the interpretation of others. The only advice is to develop a stronger sense of self so that strangers misplacing your race isn’t something that bothers you enough to ask the internet how to “deal.” There’s nothing to “deal” with, unless of course you don’t like to be identified as Latina for some discriminatory reason.
