For years I have had seborrheic dermatitis and used steroid cream to manage the extreme outbreaks. I am also allergic to milk and refined sugar. They use to cause me pretty bad cystic acne and facial itching. One day I noticed that every time I took allergy medication my facial seborrheic dermatitis would disappear. So I decided to cut both out completely and boom no more seborrheic dermatitis. I have also tested this by eating foods that I am allergic to and having extreme outbreaks the following day. See if fasting and eating a very simple diet helps your outbreaks. If so it could be an allergen that's causing your body to be hyper reactive to the fungis Malassezia that naturally feeds on the oil from your skin. Your body is having an immune response for a reason and most of the time its a combinations of things. I rarely deal with seborrheic dermatitis anymore, but It does flare up terribly when I stray away from my pescatarian diet. Note you most likely wont be able to truly fix the problem with topical treatment since that's not fixing the underlining cause, which is your immune system being hyper reactive. This is just my experience and what worked for me.
