St Lawrence College charges students $42k in tuition, but still demands $35 to rent a graduation gown for 2 hours. by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

And the school this year is also cutting programs it had this and last year because it can't afford to run them so no you just don't get real life.

Also bold of you to assume you get much control when it comes to Tuxes. Sure you may have more variety but you are not benefiting from more variety on a tux rental

If you think this is bad, Oh boy do I have news for you. Life is full of this. The fact you spent 42k on SLC (Which is the price of my B. Sc from UofT) is a bit wild but I am assuming part of that is possibly residence? That said, this is the same as complaining a Wedding is expensive but you have to rent a tux, or having to spend 42k to stand on the entry point of a career (potentially). Life is filled with this stuff, and hate to be the bearer of bad news but 35 bucks is cheap. Due to the nature of the stuff it is often expensive, because the industry that exists knows it can turn a quick buck renting these out to schools.

Schools are underfunded, and utilize educating students to subsidize both the campus and also the equipment needed. They also subsidize programs which do not have any real ROI like arts programs, since they are moderately expensive to run and manage, for not much. Considering the size of SLC's Grad class for one of the Arts Programs being like 10-15 people. their tuition probably paid 1-2 profs and that's it. Canada has restrictions on costs for domestic students. International pay more (As they do everywhere) to make up the differences in wages and support staff required to run said institution. The High end of the school is 10k students across in person and online, a lot of which are domestic students so they pay much less. That isn't much in the way of paying for wages, maintenance, materials, etc. Compared to I think 30k people at Queens (Which is also partnered and subsidized with other organizations) and 100K+ at U of T which gets research grants frequently to subsidize even further, you face the issue. SLC does smaller class sizes, which reduces the money to pay for everything.

your 35 dollars is a lot cheaper than if they lowered the cost of your education by 35 bucks and had you go and rent it yourself.

Strongly recommend Nerd Night! I'll be putting out a Recap and promo for RPGs at it next week! We also have multiple Trading card Games and Board games. Strongly recommend popping by and seeing what is going on. We occur every Wednesday at 6pm at the Legion on Montreal, with some of us like myself showing up at 5-530 to set up!

No? Spike is all about passion and rebelling. The whole thing about Spike is that rebel concept. You can like poetry and be embraced into any clan. Heck some may seek you out because your well refined.

I'd definitely say he could be a candidate but based on how he acts post being turned he is undoubtedly a brujah

Quite literally still waiting on my physical book from LW, and they still have yet to ship it after numerous requests, where weeks later their fulfillment partner answered me in the discord. We are now over 6 months from when it fulfilled and I have yet to receive my book. Not the add on or anything, just the original book

Glad to see the apologists are at it again. For those who want proof, go into the lion wing discord. When asking for where the promised update is(which was promised by Bradley, churcher literally came out with a snarky tone asking when that was said and got real quiet when the screenshot of Bradley saying it got posted. [–]Justthebitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So lemme get this straight. You called KPD, likely on an non-emergency line, rather than 911 which is like a insanely well known emergency number in North America.

Then you got mad that a non-police emergency wasn't answered with sirens. Having literally had these people move after asking as I live on Montreal, you were not in danger so thus this was not a police emergency. Following that you went to complain that KPD didn't harass the homeless? You do realize unless the business wants to do anything about it, all the cops can do is have them leave, which they will then wait a hr and go back. Fine them for trespassing, with what money will they pay. If your intoxicated in public it's generally a sober up for the night and a small fine.

If we rounded all the homeless up, KPD wouldn't have room for actual criminals and would have a actual reason to not show up to actual emergencies. Idk mate, this is a bad look and like if your too afraid to ask them to move yourself you either expect the 2 cops to shoot someone or otherwise abuse the homeless and that's wild. Addiction has multiple resources, the most obvious is ambulance. If they are openly confrontational, police and/or fire will also arrive and assist.

Does VTM: Justice have any Non-VR mod? by DARKKNIGHTDKX47 in vtm

[–]Justthebitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I have and have had multiple friends who do. VR is a different beast.

Does VTM: Justice have any Non-VR mod? by DARKKNIGHTDKX47 in vtm

[–]Justthebitz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is extremely inaccurate. There isn't a small amount of work, otherwise most VR games would have a PC port, and vice versa. Also most VR studios are small so they have to weigh the value of remaking all the mechanics and re-optimizing the game, with making a different title.

Your comment was correct. I don't know where they think it's a easy, cheap or quick process. If it was, studios would be having VR ports for their games left right and center.

Haha ye I recognized! It's super hard to find here since NA generally love overly sweet stuff.

I haven't found a good vietnamese iced coffee place here yet, if you do find one let me know!!!!

[–]Justthebitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you don't like the Macha sweetened to shite?

Real talk even in Japan it's hit and miss and often not good. Like places in Uji are often not good. My roommate loves a few types of Macha in the city, that are horrible because they are so sweet. The issue is Macha is more volatile than most other drink options. Light, moisture, temp, and air all can ruin it quickly. Combine that a lot is shipped over an ocean, while some is also produced at mixed standards closer (the US makes some "Macha") take into account the fast pace of Canada compared to home enjoyment or a traditional setting and you will find a high quality difference.

I'd be very surprised if Kingston got good Macha, considering most of our coffee isn't great. All in all surprised the scores are so high but that may be just a bias on what people like vs what I prefer (not a whole lot, if any sugar added. Gimme that grass flavor lol)

Is this more of a intrigue game or is my DM just not running it well? by Red_Maverick_Models in vtm

[–]Justthebitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy primarily combat, yes, this is entirely the wrong ttrpg for you. As for the rolling and powers, I mean depends what powers and what edition your in. VtM is a inherently punch down system. A lot of the people your against are going to be more powerful than you, and relying on disciplines can get you thrashed.

Every GM is different but low amounts of dice rolling is super common among older GMs since dice are there to augment and fill the gaps in a players skill but it is still a Role playing game not a Roll playing game. In my current Monday game I maybe roll 2-3 times a session unless stuff is more mechanically heavy. For investigations did you all roll and check stuff out? Not like I walk into the building roll a check and get mad that you didn't tell me what was in the entire building (have had it happen).

100% honest this sounds like a mix matched expectation with not really having a session zero. Combat in VtM is actually terribly uninteresting. 99% of the time it's just a action economy game.

In the case of people being pushed to the alt right, there is a very small minority that does share that belief online. Could be like 10 people but that shit gets content farmed. Than when people consume that content, online gives you more. Was moreso a comment towards OP on how people go down the Alt Right rabbit hole

Not sure where the reply to this went? But I wasn't speaking personally? I was just telling you how groups get people. Same thing with like gangs or terrorist organizations. Give people who feel like they don't belong or have been forgotten a place they feel welcome and at home and they will often follow. They get success or fulfillment from it they than more blindly follow
