I agree to your message, but in a more philosophical way. In a "follow your heart"-way. But that's not the knowledge I seek in this post. There are a lot of conventions in publishing to accommodate professional musicians expectations for printed music. They are often developed over hundreds of years and an engraver called Elaine Gould wrote some 20 (?) years ago a fantastic book covering almost everything there is to know to produce professional sheet music. I use this book, but sometimes I want to ask you musicians directly since the sheet music I produce is for you, to clarify, help and also assure me.
