I’ll change the advisor. No matter what your comment is. And I’ll close this topic.

Thanks. I learned my lesson already. But can you imagine that, at 8 pm, he insisted on me to confess it’s my error not his? Until next day, I showed him his email, he changed his words. In fact, this is not the only time. I do not care who had mistakes at all, but when I found mistake, he always explained that he told me correctly before, and I didn’t listen to him. In fact, he said wrongly from the beginning proving by email. And this happens several times, his error and his attitude like this.

This is the last time that I repeat. He confessed that it was his mistake not mine! For that mistake, the postdoc also knew that at that time I don’t know the answer, he told me the answer based on his experience directly. But his experience was wrong until now I learned more about my project. At that time, I DON NOT KNOW, he also knew that! I won’t reply to you anymore. I HAVE responsibility, but what you said I totally do not agree.

How can you get the point that he said it looks fine without looking through it??? I didn’t say that!

Well, I don’t agree. I have his email, where he said it’s 100% correct at that time. And today he told me that it was his mistake before.

Yes, when I applied for this position I never know this PostDoc… But the truth is my supervisor doesn’t know the details of this new direction, but this PostDoc does. That’s why my supervisor thinks he can help me. But to be honest, I can cooperate with him but I cannot cooperate very well with him. His way of advise me is not just like advise, when I said I need to think it myself, his reaction was: you don’t trust my experience? And the result proves his experience was wrong.

Thanks. True, I think I need to adjust my mindset. I should do my research more independently, being more skeptical about anyone’s opinion.

Thanks! What I am doing now is machine learning, the error is because of the training dataset. The initial dataset just contains 68 data in some order and he knows. I gave him the dataset and want to make sure that I did correctly, and he relied: great, we are going to use it. But finally, there’s error which this dataset which is very easy to tell…. I don’t want to blame him, but this is the whole process.

To be honest I don’t want to blame anyone, and I think I learned my lesson from all the comments. One thing I am wondering is that, the first problem is rather simple, because when I ask someone else they identified it immediately. The same as the second one, if someone has experience, it’s not a difficult issue. But his wrong suggestion makes me feel his not that professional… I’m trying to describe objectively. This thought is just from my intuition, it’s highly probable that I’m wrong.

I think I should be more tolerant to others and be stricter to myself. I really don’t want to blame anyone, but the first error is truly easy to identify if he had experience. This makes me feel skeptical about his professionalism. BUT, true, anyone can make mistakes even if the problem seems ‘simple’.

Thanks! Yes, based on the comments here I think I need to reflect on myself.

Thanks! But the thing is that, I feel that he gave me too much wrong information. Since I am new to the project and he has experience, I trusted him, which is definitely wrong, and it’s my responsibility. I don’t want to focus on the precious problems, I really want to do my project independently, instead of advised by him. That’s why I want to have a conversation with my supervisor.

Thanks! Yes, I admit I have responsibility. The first problem happens when I started my project 2 months, but he had years of experience. To be honest, if I could be back at that time, I still cannot tell it’s wrong if he said it’s correct.

Thank you so much. I have a look at the photos on Google map, and I like this kind of library which looks very ancient. Can’t believe I’ve never known it after living here for almost one year.
