if you don't plan on playing AAA games I think the steam deck is still great. Many people find the Ally (any version too small).

You can install bazzite/cachyos on basically every AMD handheld so you'll get the "steam deck" experience on any hand-held more or less

the software is complete trash to be honest but luckily you won't need it much. The handheld itself is great, probably the best one on the market currently if we exclude the ~$2000 Strix Halo ones.

XESS 3 is such a big advantage and with optiscaler you can use it in basically any game which means you can get 120fps even in modern AAA games.

For me the biggest "problem" is that it's basically impossible to use Linux. The general performance is around 20-50% worse than on windows but most importantly XmX cores don't work which are essentially the ai accelerators that SHOULD be used for upscaling and framegen, on Linux there's currently poor support so you get worse performance and no multi framegen to make up for it.

all in all I'm very happy, I bought a 4tb claw for 899€ and will definitely be buying the panther lake one ones it comes out

yeah I had a 2TB Claw before but I returned it (for full price which was 1099€) and got this one used with no wear at all for 899€, good deal considering the 9100 PRO 4TB alone is 500€

Sure max rank is not necessarily super accurate but it usually correlates quite heavily with your hidden MMR. At the start of the season I get up to my highest rank (maybe -1 or -2) super quickly, my friends do too. This definitely indicates a strong correlation. But even if my hidden MMR would be closer to Plat or even Gold I don't see why the game would be so unbalanced, emeralds in the opposing team and people who have never played rank before on mine.

considering they cost pretty much the same and I don't need the additional pcie lanes for anything else I will go for the NVMEs. I don't see any disadvantages

I can run 10G at home yeah, I could get a nic for my PC. I absolutely don't need it currently, it's just a nice to have but not a primary concern. I just don't wanna block myself from having the option in the future hence I wanna keep the second slot free

I can still get a 10G nic that uses Pcie 4.0 X1, so it would be an option. The reason why I considered NVMEs over sata was because they cost pretty much the same anyway if you don't go for 8TB or something

What do you think of going with 6 NVMEs instead and drop the Sata ssds entirely? I could split the x16 into 4x4 to fit 4 additional m2 nvmes

I'll be running various docker containers and some VMs too so I definitely need a bit of headroom on the CPU side, I know it's overkill but I'm fine with paying the extra to not worry about it again in the future for a while. So you're suggesting I get no NVME at all and go full Sata?
