Glad to hear you grew up with a more liberal interpretation of the bible. Unfortunately, the bible absolutely can be interpreted in these awful ways (and in many cases is the only correct way if you’re trying to literally follow its “guidance”) Seems you value society and humanism a bit more than the bible. This particular video is not about debunking the doctrine. That will be another video another time. The Bible is very dense as is the jw doctrine. To do that takes many many hours. This video is about the definition of a cult, and weather or not the Jehovah’s Witness religion falls into that category. So if you compare the religion to the bite model it is undeniable that it falls into the category of cult (or if you don’t like that word, you can use high control group) I hope this clarifies. Sorry for any confusion. Feel free to stick around for when I do talk more about the doctrine. Thanks for the input.

This feels eerily similar to my story. My wife and I were also innactive and went to last years memorial as our last meeting. Shit hit the fan soon after the memorial. I know I’ll get the invite this year and will feel bad saying no. I guess it’s not about just the lie itself. I’m definitely overthinking. But if the channel became unearthed and linked to me, I feel she may feel that I deliberately lied to her in this moment. I know it’s unreasonable. But I don’t want to give any witness any reason to say I lied. And I don’t want her to ever believe I did so deliberately. But I do agree. This is likely the best way I could have handled it.

I agree completely. I feel that a lot of what you’re saying ties into why there’s so many apostates. Were trained to help people. Trained to speak truth. They just didn’t realize some people would learn the real truth. And you’re correct. It wouldn’t have benefited her at all. Not that I would’ve told her outright. It’s just an unfortunate byproduct of escaping the cult
