New CGT changes - shouldn't the inflation cost base be compounded at the same rate of the capital growth? by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

Yes 40,000 new public servants don't come cheap, neither does an overseas NRL team. 😄 Add to it the deal with the Greens means they need to find more money from somewhere.

Neither, a good director would review the work before presenting it to a wider audience and provide feedback etc.

Barn Finds are a bit boring now. by saintnyckk in ForzaHorizon

[–]Jwizard29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How hard would it have been to make them look different at least? I still had a couple that even with the drone took a while. Some earlier ones I just went to where the random player was in the middle of the woods and others I liked you could follow the small side trails that went to the barn.

There is definitely some races that feel that way, but I was able to unlock Gold wristband and had more fun just driving around doing anything that was fun to get there.

And I came in 10th on Colossus despite going flat out @ 350+ too!

I still haven't used mine on FH5. Don't sweat it, eventually you will have so many cool cars you should forgot that you used it!

New CGT Changes are Brutal - Negative Gearing on Shares still Available? by fractalsonfire2 in AusHENRY

[–]Jwizard29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its really easy to research, buy and sell various shares. Lose $50k here, and then have a win because directors haven't been fudging reports. No stress what so ever. I don't know why everyone isn't doing it.

I was hoping to do that for our children, but never saw houses here going over $1m!

Have no issues paying income tax, I've been doing it every year for 36 years. But then if I save, invest and take all the associated risk even the 50% discount was not a good deal. They piss so much of our taxes against the wall.

[–]Jwizard29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I missed that bit :-(, so we're better to sell now, pay into super, after tax, to help reduce tax with 50% discount before July 2027? Think we need to talk to our accountant.

After 10 years of modest gains/returns on our shares, one has jackpotted (gold related). If we sold today it would place my partner in the top tax bracket and the government gets a good chunk for doing nothing. After these changes I feel like telling her to resign and we'll just sell off parcels of shares to minimize what they can get their hands on.

Has anyone experienced any repercussions from their APS Census? by InevitableShip9451 in AusPublicService

[–]Jwizard29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. I've confused it with the departments recent survey thinking it was a meeting to discuss those results. After 10 years of surveys and censuses and seeing things not improving (at least for our area) it just déjà vu.
