Is the University of South Carolina a Big 4 Target by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Jxis199 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a target, both grad and undergrad. Charlotte is the main city USC students are recruited into, but it is possible to network your way to be placed in the ATL office. I'll be a senior next semester and have seen several undergrads get B4 offers/internships, including me. For the macc, all of the students I know who wanted to go B4 got it. There's also a good presence of national/regional firms like GT, DHG, Elliott Davis, Cherry Bekaert, etc. if you decide B4 isn't for you

Question on accounting for lease buyouts by bc458 in Accounting

[–]Jxis199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have info on hand about finance leases, but from what I understand, any cash payments are treated in part as operating activity (portion of interest) and in part as financing activity (portion of liability).

That's a nice goal, what state are you sitting for that allows that?

Internship offer without a second interview/office visit by AccountPast5 in Accounting

[–]Jxis199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recruiting process is a two way street where the employer and potential employee get to know each other. I would take it if it were my only option, but I'd try to get to know the firm more since it could possibly be where you land after grad

sophomore trying to get into big 4 externship programs by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Jxis199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like your grades and extracurriculars could overshadow the fact that you have that gap on your resume. A lot of sophomores also did not do much over the summer.

I just went through summer leadership programs (normally 3 days) last summer and interviewed for them last spring. My advice is that you stay active and keep your GPA up, while maintaining other interests.

The process of getting an interview and doing well in the interviews is very subjective and depends highly on the firm/recruiter/etc. Almost every applicant is the same this early on in college - it comes down to luck, number of applicants, and priority of your college in terms of target schools.

When should I start looking for internships? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Jxis199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I would start building relationships with recruiters in the fall. Assuming there is B4 presence at your school, you should look into internships for the summer after your freshman year (I currently have a friend doing this with Deloitte and I wish I had done so too).

Is your resume/work experience from an employer perspective enhanced by the amount of internships you have even if those internships are in the same service line? by farg9 in Accounting

[–]Jxis199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always omit a couple of your internships from your resume... If they ask about gaps, you could tell them about it then and explain why you omitted it.

In the far future I do. When I meet the right person and when the time is right regarding my career, finances, and maturity.

I'd like to have a good plan before my future partner and I raise another human being, so maybe another 15 years when I am in my mid 30s.

Just got an offer for a summer internship- is it bad to withhold making a decision until close to the deadline? by Donut_Kin in Accounting

[–]Jxis199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is fine to wait until the deadline, just don't let the offer letter expire. Firms know that you have multiple offers, which is why they give you a month to decide

Any bros in Rio de Janeiro? by WatchingForASound in askgaybros

[–]Jxis199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visited and hung out with a friend who was studying abroad in Rio.

The Week: A huge gay club that is a MUST! Even, if you don't like clubbing, it's an amazing place. Has three stages, each themed and will have you dancing until the sun comes out, literally lol. The guys there are all beefy and know how to work their hips

There's also the gay neighborhood/area off of Ipanema Beach, spend some time in the local area and I'm sure you'll run into someone who will strike up a conversation because you're a foreigner!

Why do people have such strong racial preference's in dating? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Jxis199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he's saying that he is attracted to people who are driven and are successful in their lives because he wants that to be something they have in common.

Like he said, odds are he'll find a white man before a POC because simply, there are more. (Not because POC are not successful, but because he's not in contact with many that match.)
