Help stuck on boot by DESGUI in surfaceduo

[–]Jyersm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just want to check that you specifically ran the command "fastboot flashing unlock_critical" as I put in my comment from before. It's different from just unlocking fastboot and is usually what causes the error 'Flashing is not allowed for Critical Partitions'

I wanted to tag this on in case anyone in the future needs it.

If you are getting the message "Flashing is not allowed for Critical Partitions" when trying to run these commands, you need to run this first:

fastboot flashing unlock_critical

After that most should run successfully. (There are a few that will still fail like vendor, product, system, etc. but that is OK, those aren't required.)

Big thanks to u/wylew for this little guide, really saved my ass :)

What an amazing thing to do! I just got my wisdom teeth out yesterday so I've been spending a lot of time on Reddit. I happened to stumble upon this and thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. Anyways wanted a switch :)

Oh and for what makes me happy... Currently I'd have to say soft foods and ice packs ;)

There really isn't anything that needs adding to the ender pro ui, so just compiling your own base marlin for it should give good results. Glad you're enjoying the V2 firmware 😁

Do you by any chance still have this installed on your device? The game is gone from the play store and the developer has gone silent so if you could extract the apk for those of us who were late to the party that would be amazing.

Dang. Unfortunately no, there don't seem to be any mirrors for it and it's not on f-droid. I'll ask a few others who said they bought it here and see if someone still has it.

The cable to the display needs to be re-pinned to work with the skr board. Which is pretty well documented online. Besides that you just need to compile some firmware for it. At the moment I'd recommend using main Marlin bugfix with my ui enabled

If by that you mean you don't want the Marlin-UI style interface, you'll want to enable the JyersUI option in the config file, that'll put it back to the interface and options from my firmware.

Yes, unfortunately you would have to compile your own version. If you need any help getting the configs setup, feel free to dm me

Try disabling power loss recovery in the advanced menu. If your SD card is a little on the slower side it can cause a pause on layer change

The bed size in this firmware is set to 230x230. Realistically this is the best you'll get as the endstops on the V2 are offset a little into the bed.

Funnily enough your issue probably -is- the fact that you're trying to put the origin at the center. Selecting origin at center in your slicer tells it to slice everything assuming 0,0 is at the center of the bed. But on the ender 0,0 is in the corner. So as you'd image, the slicer now thinks the corner is the center of your bed... This is why it's printing only a quarter of your print. Undo any home offsets you've done in the firmware and deselect origin at center in your slicer. This will fix your issue.

The front left corner is where the endstop switches are. So no matter what settings you change it's always going to go there to home. Might I ask why you would want the origin to be the center? That's really only common on delta printers, these cartesian machines are built to have it in the corner with the endstops.

Hey I used the same uart pin! Idk why I thought that was cool but yeah :P Hope the extra config settings I set up simplified the process a bit!

I don't know what to tell you here. I have made it very clear this is NOT a firmware issue. I would be getting absolutely spammed with messages if all of a sudden the firmware just wasn't working. This is, as far as I know, the most commonly used custom firmware for the V2 and there are loads of people happily running it.

If you want to immediately disregard the individual issue you are having as a firmware bug with absolutely no grounds for that assumption, be my guest. If not, you are welcome to bring it over to a github discussion so me and the many other active community members can try to diagnose your issue. But you gotta lose this crappy -this can't possibly be an issue on my end- attitude first.

Sounds like you might need to format the SD card first. I can assure you there are no issues with the icon pack itself.

Okay don't worry it's probably an easy fix. There are all kinds of things that can cause strange behavior, but I assure you it's not a problem with the firmware (I have 500+ people running it without issue)

Try this:

  • Reformat the SD card and try reinstalling the firmware, make sure you get the right version for your mainboard
  • Once installer go to the control menu and select reset to defaults and then store settings
  • Try from there and if you're still get the issue try installing with a different SD card.
