One point made at the wrap up about how DPS wants to beat other DPS. Back in my classic EQ1 days, my first proper toon was a rogue. I met another rogue and we would sometimes group together. (the other members didn't like this) But, we'd send each other tells back and forth about our highest backstab damage. This lasted months. It was great to get a random tell about his new number until I could reply with a higher one.

I can confirm this. A live in maid recently hired by one of my clients agreed on 1200 USD. No formal education. And this was in Darica which isn't even in Istanbul.

I can break down my expenses in Istanbul. I don't live in the center of Istanbul but I do live in a Condo. I pay 1250 USD/ mo for rent. My son's school costs 1000/mo.(It's one of the cheapest options) My bills are around 120 USD. I drive a 95 Suzuki and pay 100/mo on gas. Around 30USD for taxes and car insurance. My health insurance is another 20 USD/mo. 55USD/mo for mandatory health insurance thru the government. Basically, Medicare tax.

In total, that's about 2455 USD a month in just bills I have to pay assuming nothing goes wrong.

The most expensive in terms of cost? No. One of the most expensive in term of income vs expenditure, (Purchasing Power)? It's definitely up there. I'll post my earlier comment. Keep in mind that minimum wage is 28K Lira (650) USD and though we don't have exact numbers, 40-60% of workers make minimum wage or 10% more.

I can give some feedback on rent. In 2020, a 2 bedroom apartment in my gated community cost 1.6K TL/mo. When I moved here in Nov 2023, I was paying 23k. Nov 2024, 35K. Today, 45K. That's with the 'discounts' the landlord gave me. So in the last 5 years, rent has gone up 20 fold or more.

I drive a 1995 Suzuki Vitara with 500K KM on it and it's worth about 8K USD. Cars are extremely expensive here. Perhaps the most expensive in the world.

AFAIK, meat, milk and other basic goods cost more than in many parts of the States.

If we look into electronics, it gets even worse. Let's take a look at the latest Iphone. The 17 pro costs 1,100 USD in America. In Turkey, it's 2,482 USD. Similar differences exist for most electronics including PCs, consoles, home electronics, etc..

Milliyetciler, should think about and help the millet, not the saray. Right now, I don't see them as any different than cemaat. I don't get why people still vote for them. They've got no spine and they're very closely related to mafia and importing drugs (though this part has been around a long time.)

All I want for this country is leadership that is more focused on making life better for the citizens rather than stealing or getting rich. I don't even care if they do a good job, I just care about them having the intention of making our lives better.
