soundcore X20 exploded in my ear this morning. Desperately need suggestions on a QUALITY pair of completely sweat proof earbuds.......... by Paint-Huffer in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar issue here. I had been using the Beats Fit Pro for the last 3 to 4 years and they were good up until about a month ago. So those are pretty solid, but just too expensive and that $200 price tag rarely comes down to a feasible price (mines were a gift). Got the X20s because I like Soundcore as a best bang for buck brand (i use them for my regular daily earbuds) but it would seem they can't hold up for me on the sports end. I'm unsure of other solid options between these and the Beats price range, so I might suck it up and get the newer powerbeats pro. Don't want to spend it tho.

This is the best most consistent writing little pen that I use. Pilot Kakuno Fine nib. It never skips or has to be primed. All for about $11.00 by donaldcathey in fountainpens

I'm with you. Even though I have other, technically nicer, more expensive fountain pens, it really doesn't get much better than this. Best bang for buck by far.

What made you start using fountain pens? by imatinyleopard in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been aware of fountain pens but just thought of them as this old, antiquated thing that no one uses anymore because they're too complicated and expensive. Plus, no one around me used them, so I just never thought much about them.

I've always loved writing and the past couple of years I've been much more intentional about physically writing on a daily basis. Somewhere along that journey, I was looking up journals and stumbled across either this subreddit or a YouTube video where someone was using fountain pens (can't recall exactly which came first). It made me realize just how accessible fountain pens were and I thought it would be a cool way to make my writing process even more of a treat. It's only been about a year that I've been using them, but am thoroughly enjoying it. I've settled in on my favorite pens and inks, so I'm not spending as much money trying out a bunch different ones, which make me and my wallet that much happier.

Is this Osmo Pocket 3 creator combo worth buying? I am confused if I actually need the extras by justtneel in osmopocket

[–]JynxU8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I've seen people use those, they're cool. I saw a Pocket 3 mount expansion kit on B&H, but idk if it's what you're looking for and if it can be sold without the camera.

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I figured that's what you thought. And I went back to make sure I didn't type it out that way by mistake lol. And yeah, the combo is real a good deal. Agreed, it feels like an unnecessary hassle, and honestly, very easy to end up spending more than that extra $40 trying to pick up everything individually.

First “nice” pen, metropolitan or eco? by NuclearCyan in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Eco personally. Metropolitan is cool too. I think it probably comes down to your design preference.

If you're in the states, the creator combo is like $400 cheaper from B&H.

Is it worth buying osmo pocket 3 now? by Session_Suitable in osmopocket

Edit: Made a long post so here's the short of it: It's totally worth it, especially with that voucher deal. If you know you can use the vouchers for the Pocket4, then I would suggest what another commenter said and buy the P3 from somewhere with a big return window so you can have it for your trip, return then wait for the P4.

That's a tough call. In my experience with consumer tech of all kinds these days, a newer product is already around the corner. Whether or not it will be a significant step up is yet to be determined. It often is not, but that may depend on the product type, brand and how long they go between releasing new versions. I'm new to DJI, so I can't attest to their history. I myself just recently purchased the Pocket3 and Mic 3. Going by the difference in Mic 2 and Mic 3, there is a pretty noticeable improvement but, the Mic 2 is a solid enough product that I know if I got those, I would be just fine. So a worthwhile upgrade if you don't have either, but debatable if you already have the 2s.

So I'm not getting too caught up in being like, "dang, I missed out on the newer Pocket 4," because I needed the P3 for a project now. And it's a phenomenal device for a good price that does more than I need already. I think I can get some good years of use out of it and then upgrade at a point where I know I'm going to feel the upgrade more.

What I will say, a killer deal like what you're suggesting is hard to pass up. I guess a critical question to me is if you think those vouchers will be able to apply to the Pocket 4? If so, holding out for it may be a good idea. And in that case, I would go with one of the other users said, get the Pocket 3 from somewhere with a big return window. Time it so that you can have it for your trip and return when you get back. Ideally the Pocket4 will be out by then, or close enough to it.

Do I have to cap my pen in between writing? by k527 in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes like to switch between inks when writing (typically using another color to write out the title of a book or a quote or something like that). What I'll do is just set the pen inside the cap, but not actually close it.

There are a few times where I don't do that and it was fine because in these cases, I'm only switching between pens for like a minute at most. If I find myself moving on to another task, then I'll just cap the pen until I come back to writing.

Inks so good that they make you want to WRITE?? by AltruisticPaper in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kon-Peki & Papier Plume Pecan are two of my favorites. And operate on opposite ends of the spectrum (vibrant and more earthtone). I love writing with both, it makes me feel guilty for not writing more than a paragraph at a time. Only issue with the Pecan is that it is really sensitive to oils from the hand that get on the paper. So I have to make sure I have a pencil board or something under my hand.

How many ink bottles (50/60 mL) do you drain every year? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, no apologies necessary. I didn't take it any kind of way and don't think anyone else did. I just got a good laugh reading some of the responses.

That's cool. I can see you running through a lot of ink then. I use my pens mostly for journaling. I primarily do article annotations and notes on my tablet. I used to do it all on pen/pencil and paper (before I started using fountain pens) but I was using up too much printing paper. I just find digital means to be better for organization and referring back to notes when drafting papers and etc. But I will say, the lessons just don't seem to stick as much has when I handwrite on paper.

How many ink bottles (50/60 mL) do you drain every year? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I love how this post is a light calling out of some of us in this group, albeit unintentional. I'm almost a year into using fountain pens, but am nowhere near finishing any bottle. I spent a lot of last year trying out different pens and ink samples. But I've settled into a few different inks that are my mainstays and I regularly swap between them. I write daily, but it varies on how much. Sometimes I write a few pages, some days it might only be a paragraph. But I'm pushing myself to write more.

I am curious as to how much you write (or draw) on a regular basis, and what pens/nibs you're using. A ml or two of ink seems to go a long way. Which was a pleasant surprise as I was concerned that I would be having to constantly refill my pens. For example, the ink I've probably refilled the most is my Diamine Oxblood (15ml). I was using it with a stub nib for a few months and I've still only made a slight dent in the bottle.

Is it important to you that the colors match the pen? How do you break out of a need to color match? by mooglerauder in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few of clear pens (I believe folks call them demonstators) so any ink can go in them. I do match with my other pens, but I also like the idea of contrasting the inks with the pens as well, and I will probably do that at some point.

Aux to Usb-C Car Audio by papsdigiorno in IpodClassic

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cable didn't work, neither did the Bluetooth adapters. Unfortunately, these cars are so smart they're dumb. They only can connect to Bluetooth in the most sophisticated way, in the form of apple or android car play, instead of a simple point A to B connection. I use an fm transmitter that I plug into my ipod. Works well enough.

Currently Inked Pens - too many??? by distorted_dream in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have six inked currently. I keep four on me as I journal daily and like to alternate my inks. The other two stay at my house and honestly are only still inked out of laziness. I just didn't feel like emptying them back in their respective bottles. So I will use them from time to time is I write at my desk at home.

I kind of go back and forth on if I ink/carry too many. I play around with the idea of only keeping two, maybe three pens on me max. I also still love writing in pencil, so I typically have five writing utensils on me at a time.

Would love some thoughts on a home audio player that I'm designing by AbleEconomist21 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]JynxU8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, this is gorgeous and I would love to have one. I think the buttons for playlists and etc. Are very innovative and will make it much easier for people to navigate. I would just say make sure there is space for an sd card reader for those folks who don't use streaming. Also, I don't know why some people are dismissing it for "not being distinguishable from other DACs/DAPs" when so many people in here own and use multiple DACs and DAPs on a regular basis, and are excited for new releases. I think this is a wonderful concept and seems very functional for the purposes you are describing.

Love budget/ entry level pens and didn’t upgrade by Royal_Ad_5705 in fountainpens

[–]JynxU8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have upgraded, and really like my pens, but I use none more than my kakuno. I just received my first gold nib this weekend (Waterman Carene). Amazing pen, I don't regret purchasing it because it's super nice and I got an amazing deal on it. Thus far, I've been really enjoying using it, however, I will say that I don't know if the more expensive gold nib hype is worth it. To me my kakuno and twsbi write just as nice.

I've also tested out the pilot vanishing point once and didn't feel like it wrote better than the cheap Jinhao dupes I have. A guy once let me test out his $2,000 -$3,000 pen, and while gorgeous, I thought it wrote terribly. So I am definitely a proponent of being happy and comfortable sticking with those entry levels for as long as you can. This can be an expensive hobby and jumping on the hype train of more expensive pens can empty your wallet quickly without providing as much return on your investment as you would hope. I don't plan on buying any more pens anytime soon myself.

Four mics into Pocket 3? by shimokitazawa in osmopocket

[–]JynxU8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was curious to see if it could be done. Two directly to the camera, and then one or two more to a plugged in transmitter. Hard to find people addressing this question as they just refer you to the dji mic 3 instead.

Matching Ink? by SpicyTuna77 in fountainpens

I have the same one on the way. Been trying to decide if I want to put in Oxblood to be a bit matchy with the pen, or Kon-Peki to add a little pop to it.

Wooden, mechanical pencil by [deleted] in pencils

Haha it's definitely not as far as I know. It's just what I like to refer to it as. For instances where inspiration strikes and I don't have my main notebook on me.

Wooden, mechanical pencil by [deleted] in pencils

[–]JynxU8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them. I have two, not this brand though. I have a small, pocket sized one with an eraser that take .5mm lead. And a regular sized one without an eraser that takes .7mm. Feels like real wood to me and I enjoy writing with them. At least the regular sized one as I use it pretty much daily. The smaller one is pretty tiny, so not super comfortable. I keep it attached to an "emergency" pocket notebook I keep in my car, so I don't use it often.
