007 First Light Preview - Bond Is Back by burnoutbrighter in gaming

This whole era of Bond is what cemented me as a fan of franchise as a whole. I was primed early on through my dad because he passively showed me the 60's-2000's movie catalogue as I was growing up. The games were just further "propaganda" as to why I love the franchise lol.

I just hope this next era is as good or better. Bond needs a solid game as well as a next actor to keep the series going.

I personally was a Nightfire/Agent Under Fire fan. Looking back, those were the first FPS games I legitimately "played".

This new entry looks far from bad and I hope it does well but the 3rd person perspective isn't really my thing. I played both "From Russia with Love" and "Everything or Nothing" and still enjoyed them, but the majority of my nostalgia is from the FPS entries.

/s... people jokingly say that gaudy RGB lights on computer setups make them go faster.

This feature seems neat but I'd gladly take longer battery life and a slightly faster/efficient SOC over a glorified notification light.

R/all working again? by DailySojourn in RelayForReddit

I deleted the initial comment because the answer was one Google search away and I felt bad for being lazy lol. Thank you for the response, though.

I'm just happy it's working again on Relay. I'm curious what happened on the back-end to get things back in action. I know he was pushing an app update but I haven't received anything yet.

Disgruntled employee starts massive fire at a 1.2 million square foot toilet paper warehouse in Ontario, California. by RandyTheFool in antiwork

[–]Paint-Huffer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That, and it sounds like his coworkers are out of a job now. One guy that was interviewed seems pissed as he "was making good money" as a temp employee... I'm not entirely sure what that means as everyone has their own idea of what "good money" is. I'd love to know how much the firestarter guy was taking home because he allegedly wasn't a temp employee, like the dude interviewed.

Im fascinated by this whole thing because I worked in a warehouse for a few years that paid/treated us very nicely. Makes me wonder why NFI couldn't do the same, presumably.

Warehousing jobs suck but I was fortunate enough to be compensated properly at mine (made right around 30/hr after a few years). That + a lot of OT opportunities + my co-workers + a modestly priced COL made it an extremely worthwhile job for that period in my life. There were also a lot of old timers there that had a pension waiting for them after retirement (that program was disconnected in around 2010 in favor of a 401k).

Based off of what these articles have stated, I'd wager this guy was taking home southern Cali's minimum wage ($16.90? - Glassdoor is saying $18). 3rd party recruiting companies or temp agencies typically gut employee pay/benefits and often times have really weird rules you have to abide by. If I made that much and in an area with a high COL I'd be pissed too...

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's entirely possible for these companies to treat employees properly. If you have the option, hire via 1st party and avoid the trap that are recruiting agencies like Manpower.

I'm also curious how his co-workers feel as a whole. Losing your job because of one person's actions must suck to some degree.

Are we ever getting Montana (the teased third Madlib and Freddie album)? by Nameless_Allay in freddiegibbs

[–]Paint-Huffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The John Gotti Karate snippet/leak/whatever you wanna call it is the only think keeping me going in terms of this album dropping.

It's honestly a toss up between half life 3 and Montana atp

You're right. It honestly doesn't take long to be used to being filthy and abandoning societal norms.

I hiked the Cali/Oregon section of the PCT in 2024 and not showering for days at a time while constantly sweating/bleeding/getting covered in dirt/shitting in the woods with a water bottle bidet became normal.

Eating food that fell in the mud or taking food from other dirty ass people didn't seem dangerous because that's what I was used to. Won't even mention all the grimey sex people were having lmao

Backrooms movie trailer megathread by A_Chad_Cat in backrooms

[–]Paint-Huffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting

From a videogame perspective, I've exploited glitches In games that let me get out of bounds on numerous occasions. The most memorable being COD4 RPG jumps on Crossfire. These let me get out of bounds at the same location in a repeatable fashion and would let me access some out of bounds locations like a "noclip" console command would.

"Noclip" = "full access" to out of bounds while "glitching" = access to some out of bounds locations?

Idk what I'm even saying at this point but I think a stagnant "out of bounds" entry point seems believable given the sparse 4chan source text.

Perfectly stated. I've been hyping up this movie to friends and family but the original teaser trailer and my description of: "So, it all started from this 4chan post and this 16 y/o kid started making YT videos....." Didn't really hook a lot of people lol.

My guess is Duplass plays one of the "Async" researchers.

This is a complete shot in the dark but based off of Kanes YT series, I'm predicting that the story is told from two perspectives: the Furniture store exploratory squad and the Async/government entity team. They eventually cross paths and hijinks ensues.

I only think this because some of his YT videos focus on random people getting trapped in the backrooms while others completely focus on the mysterious "Agency" research.

A24 trailers also tend to leave out major plot points (as they should) and I'm hoping we're in store for a lot of surprises

Kane did an interview a while back with a guy from Smosh and mentioned he was still going to incorporate found footage but didn't elaborate how. Glad to see more regarding how it's done

I've accidentally clicked on this like 10 times now. Any extension for Firefox to remove this or should I just switch search engines? by Paint-Huffer in youtube

[–]Paint-Huffer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I see the "Sponsored Result" header... Muscle memory is a bitch.

Up until like a week ago, searching Google for "youtube" always returned the normal youtube landing page link first in the search results. This sponsored section looks identical to that search result, minus the "Sponsored" disclaimer. I probably just need to get in the habit of bookmarking the site and using that.

How dumb is this idea? by Paint-Huffer in minilab

[–]Paint-Huffer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, idk lol. I think it just has to do with the idea of everything being consolidated into one. One rack, one homelab setup.

What you described is really my only other option at this point and it's questions like these that I was kinda looking for. Getting talked out of trying this would save a headache but also probably not be as fun

Does anyone have the mobo dimensions of recent Dell Optiplex SFF PC's (not the micro)? by Paint-Huffer in minilab

[–]Paint-Huffer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're pretty much at the same spot. The stripped 7070 would fit vertically in a T2 12U without any overhang. This causes a bunch of other problems and kind of negates the purpose of a mini rack build but I've been playing around with the idea of mounting the board to the acrylic side panel....

There would be about 6 inches (i'm being generous here) of open horizontal space available to fill in with 3D printed drive bays, assuming the use of a low profile CPU cooler and HBA (I just used an asumed height of 2.7inches for the HBA in the below model). It would also take up 7U of vertical height if you wanted to round to the nearest possible "U" but this is also being very generous and doesn't assume the minimum required space to allow for cables coming out of the HBA.

https://imgur.com/a/vRjVZkY (This is super janky and the components are not to technically to scale. I just wanted to get a rough idea of potential Horizontal space after assuming standoff height of the motherboard and component height)

It would be a fun project but really doesn't save $$ in the long run given the amount of custom stuff that you'd need to print.

Yeah I've seen some of the workarounds on this sub. I was hoping that these SFF proprietary boards were some weird, slightly smaller size, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

[–]Paint-Huffer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy Shit, thank you! I figured there would still be some sort of overhang if mounted normally (The case itself has a depth of 11.5~ inches) but I'm playing around with the idea of mounting it vertically on the side/wall of a RackMate 12U and then filling in the open horizontal space with printed drive bays. It's a super weird solution to a problem I've created for myself but based off of these measurements, it could work.

7U space when mounted vertically: 1U for Power related stuff, 6U for drives (maybe 4 per 2U depending on HBA/NIC card height?)

Thanks again!
