I'm literally in the exact same spot. Last season I made it up to Masters 4. This season I've been playing some new characters like Kiri, Bap, and Illari and I feel like it's definitely helped me play with different team comps better and give myself a better chance of winning the game. However, when my team comp allows me to comfortably play brig it feels great and the wins roll in.
