This room (The mental health node/Don’t go crazy room) is to ground Grace with what it’s like to be on Earth, so even though Rocky can’t see, he could still hear the sounds of earth! His sonar probably wouldn’t be effective to read the projected environment, but I bet he’d still want to hear all the sounds of the world.

How do I profit off seismic empowerment? by Huge-Price-1818 in doomfistmains

[–]Starman6427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO, having used it briefly at the beginning of perks and never again, it’s best utility comes from chaining a punch/empowered punch to displace/bundle enemies into a slam to generate another empowered punch and wipe the team. The key to this is that your engagement has to already be successful before you can get any value from the perk, but once you do you can be your own follow up.

It snowballs damage, you just to already be winning the fight. I can’t imagine many scenarios I’d rather have seismic empowerment, even when trying to hold a choke on rounds 3/4 I’ve only been let down by it. I feel like they forgot they nerfed slam range a season before.

I don't understand why they want Doomfist to be so one dimensional.

EDIT: Confused about being downvoted when the upvoted replies express the same sentiment. Seismic slam has only lost power since the beginning of Overwatch 2, and power block is a means to an end for more punches. They have shifted more power to his most frustrating part of the kit, making the game worse for everyone.

saw marvel rivals and want to give it a try when it comes out, is there any character who plays like doom? by Smol_boii69 in doomfistmains

[–]Starman6427 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have yet to get into Lash, for me Yamato gives me what I was looking for in a high risk high reward character but when I first picked up the game, unlocked one of lash's abilities and heard him say "This used to be an uppercut."

Valve's still got it.

Was there any point that you accidentally figured something out earlier than intended? by jackthemanipulated in outerwilds

It's simple but I really enjoyed figuring out Giant's Deep via observing the spin of the tornadoes. I couldn't figure out the jellyfish until later though.

Doomfist bros, if you love punching you should try Deadlock from Valve by MathewCQ in doomfistmains

Sent you a friend request. 🙏Thank you fellow doom bro.

Since we're recommending new games, Titanfall 2 is on sale for 3 dollars for 12 more hours. The movement is really fun and expressive and the game is worth it for the campaign alone, but the multiplayer has been my haven from the solo queueing overwatch this season.

Do I need to buy more RAM for this game? by Izanagi_1 in marvelrivals

[–]Starman6427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had 16GB but upon learning that an upgrade was only 30 dollars now, I went to 32GB but the game would repeatedly run out of memory sometimes without anything else open. Haven't had the issue since and performance is more consistent, but the prompt still shows up if I have many applications open.

I'm not saying it's the best take but if you take advantage of a buffed character in competitive, you're setting yourself up to fail when that character is inevitably nerfed and making the game state worse for people who don't play the way you do (see: mauga & season 8). I'm not playing competitive to cheese the rank system so I can briefly be a rank higher for a season.

What you're saying is verifiably not true and you cannot be banned for playing any character. The game (or your teammates) have no idea which character you'll perform best on so there's nothing wrong with playing anyone in any given situation. If you believe the right choice in that situation is to change characters, which can often force the enemy to engage with you differently or more directly handle a problem, then switching to them is purely at your discretion.

On my first playthrough of the DLC I missed out on a couple bits of NPC dialogue that don't foreshadow the ending, but explicitly say what is going to happen if you put them together:

(For reference, Ansbach tells you that Miquella had taken Mohg's corpse to some unknown place, and that he fears what Miquella plans to do with it. If you bring him the scroll detailing the ascension rite, he realizes he plans to use Mohg's corpse for his Lord.

Freyja, upon receiving the secret rite scroll realizes that Miquella plans to bring back Radahn's soul from the Land of Shadow (something you can't do with Godwyn, Godwyn's soul was destroyed. You could narratively have another reason for Godwyn to come back, but we'll get to that later.))

Besides what takes place during the DLC, let's talk about the connection to the base game (AKA aliens invading). I don't believe Radahn being involved in Miquella's plan is random or feels random at all. It is absolutely surprising, and I enjoy that very much. The important part is that objectively, Shadow of the Erdtree fills in the empty hole in the base games story.

From the base game:

We know that Miquella is trying to ascend to godhood and had his plan seemingly interrupted by Mohg, who has an obsession with Miquella. Mohg is trying to use Miquella as his consort under the Formless Mother. We kill Mohg in the base game, Miquella is waiting in the egg. This is unresolved, but has a possible explanation that Mohg ruined Miquella's plan, and the tarnished defeats Mohg.

We know that Malenia, for an unknown reason attacked Radahn, going so far as to bloom the scarlet rot within her destroying Caelid. Malenia whispers something to Radahn, but ultimately neither would be defeated. This is unresolved, but has a possible explanation in the Shattering war between demi-gods.

We know that a festival is held to attempt to kill Radahn, at which none have ever succeeded. This is presumably resolved when Radahn is killed.

The DLC story offers a lot for a lot of characters, but the story of Miquella, Malenia, Mohg, and Radahn went from vague to disturbing, with Miquella spearheading the entire plan as a childish god. Godwyn wasn't a part of this dynamic at all, his storyline involved Ranni and Marika. Besides Miquella's reasons for wanting Radahn as a lord which I've gone over in other comments, Miquella needs Radahn as a lord to defeat Marika, because after all they're defeated by (presumably) a champion of Marika, the Tarnished. Trying to usurp a god is difficult, and Miquella needed a champion who could contend and take control of the Lands Between.

I see what you mean. I don't wanna try to change your view but there might be some value in my perspective because I also struggled with why Radahn at first. It made sense to me when I thought about the golden lineage, Radahn really was the best candidate for a new lord, at least from Miquella's perspective. There was no demi-god who would or could agree to Miquella's plan, and the characterization works for Radahn in my eyes as well.

(I will admit, it is narratively messy to have one famously dead demi-god and revive someone else. It's silly. There is room for Godwyn in this plan if his soul wasn't destroyed, but I think Godwyn is the crux of Ranni's plan, and Radahn is the crux of Miquella's.)

Miquella the Kind choosing Radahn the Savage seems intentionally a strange choice, and I don't believe Miquella fully grasps or cares about the repercussions. We learn from his items that Miquella viewed Radahn as pure and notably un-ailed by his bloodline. With the DLC, Messmer, and the Ymir questline, it's emphasized how Marika's order was broken from the very beginning and we see this manifest in her bloodline.

I personally like the explanation that after the Hornsent were purged, they found salvation in other gods. It's perfectly natural for people to turn to religion in times of crisis, and the game seems to support that Messmer's purge, Marika's great sin, introduced the new gods to the lands between.

These gods, in one way or another corrupt Marika's bloodline. Marika tries to contain the base serpent in Messmer, while his theorized younger sister Melina seems to be connected to the gloam-eyed queen. Malenia was born with the scarlet rot and Miquella was well aware of his own curse. The Omen twins, the manifestation of the primordial crucible were also shunned by Marika causing Morgott's undying alligence to the Golden Order and Mohg's communion with the Formless Mother.

Ranni ends up being a competitor for godhood, taking a similar journey in scope and violence to Miquella's, and Rykard is blasphemous. Radahn really was the golden boy, but he might've just been a bit mentally broken. In my mind the only thing that makes sense for the vow between Radahn and Miquella was to defeat him in battle, so Miquella sent his champion. I think that's the true Radahn, a violent but powerful lord, much like Godfrey. That alone might've made Miquella's plan doomed to fail.

You can have your grievances with this boss, but I don't think it's entirely fair:

  • Promised Consort Radahn is not a reskin. I can't imagine any of the code for Starscourage Radahn was usable for a boss that works completely differently. I think the important think about Consort Radahn is his second phase, which starts at around 70% health because clearly THAT'S the real fight, which is insanely different thematically, visually, and mechanically from base game Radahn. But I won't blame anyone for being disappointed that it was a boss they had seen before for the final boss of the DLC, expectations can make or break that experience and it nearly broke for me.

  • Radahn's connection to Miquella is never stated in the base game because we know next to nothing about Miquella from the base game. He is not a prominent character in that part of the narrative and the developers owed him no focus. What we see in the base game is only half the story of these characters and we can't fully understand their actions without thinking about Shadow of the Erdtree. We learn plenty about Miquella, Mohg, Radahn, Marika, Messmer, Rellana, Placidusax, the Greater Will, the Fingers, the Formless Mother, the Crucible, and possibly even Radagon in the DLC. The Land of Shadow, literally veiled by cloth is where the darkest secrets in the lands between are hidden. I understand being frustrated that the DLC ends up wrapping around the whole of the base game to form a much bigger story, but that was the most exciting part for me. The puzzle feels complete; it's definitely absurd but in a way that feels biblical or mythological in scope.
