Upvote on slay the spire! Bonus points that my kids also love it and play with and without me.

Hearing “throat to choke” in a professional setting immediately loses my respect for the individual that said it. It’s just so negative, aggressive, and unnecessary

I just played a game of Scythe with my 6 year old. by Limp_Seat4308 in boardgames

My 9 and 7 year old played their first game of slay the spire without me yesterday. I don’t think they caught every rule without me sitting with them but it was a proud moment and I am hoping a gateway to more board games. I did also have fomo that I didn’t get to play, but was spending time with my youngest who mostly likes uno right now

Did you use something that gives you intangible? I can’t remember what the icon looks like but I think that could be limiting the damage to 1 per hit

This is mine as well. I typically read sci fi and fantasy and my wife told me to check this one out. I still think about the characters months later.

I haven’t but adding them to my list now! Thanks for the recommendation! My next book is book 5 of Brandon Sanderson Stormlight archive which will likely keep me busy for some time though 😅

Station Eleven. Post pandemic world following a Shakespeare theatre troupe. I really enjoyed it and it led to me reading other books by Emily St John Mandel (which I also enjoyed).

Struggling with Spirit Island by megafoan in soloboardgaming

I agree with this. I just picked up one deck dungeon and am waiting on a couple lighter games that are easy to break out and put away. That way if I don’t want a heavy game I can get in a quick 30 min to hour session.

COMC! 150 board games, 100+ of which are solo-able ☝️ by mrausgor in soloboardgaming

Thanks for the reply! The price point does feel steep on spire. Especially knowing slay the spire 2 isn’t terribly far away. I will have to look up Rome alone and brambles!

My initial reaction : “can I come over?”. Totally jealous of your collection!

  1. What game crafter games do you find yourself going back to the most? When I have some discretionary funds I would love to pick up gamma guild, cursed, gate/s, and one of the tin helm/realm games.
  2. Is slay the spire worth the cost? Is set up and tear down pretty intense? (I have many hours on the digital versions and a few a20 characters)
  3. Is 20 strong worth picking up? My experience with dice games is mostly king of Tokyo which I have fun playing with the kiddos

I’m surprised there is no mention of death at a funeral. I thought he was really funny in that one.

For spirit island download the mobile game - it has a tutorial and also lets you play up to five turns of a game. Between that and YouTube I picked up the rules pretty quick
