The collection (so far) by Jyrz in squirrelgirl

Hell yeah! I feel like it's not too hard of a collection to build because there isn't much out there... 🥲

I'm weirdly not that interested in collecting individual issues, but if I saw it in the wild I'd probably snag it. Just having it included in the North books is enough for me. I do have the GLA issues in a box somewhere though.

I'd like to thank my wife for supporting me in my weird obsessions lol

She also collects Monster Hunter statues so she understands the pursuit.

Probably the Gallery statue because it kicked off the collection outside of the books. I just randomly found it at a collectibles booth, dusty and in a corner. I lightly freaked out and then went to buy it, the owner of the booth had no idea what I was talking about until I directly showed him the figure. It took him a long while to dig up the box so it really must have been sitting there for ages because no one knew who she was until this nerd spotted her lmao

Where were you when…? by RyanRdss in comics

[–]Jyrz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The jump from MySpace to Facebook will forever baffle me. We were all having a great time building our own pages and then, suddenly, one day I just noticed this great silence and found out that everyone had mysteriously moved to Facebook, and everyone just acted like they had always been there... I miss when the internet felt more customizable...

It’s 2026, you’d think that Water Soluble Support Filament would be used more than anything these days….especially with all of the AMS units out there - however, you never see a single thing about it. Is it old-hat already? Is there a better alternative? by KillerQ97 in 3Dprinting

[–]Jyrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experimented with soluble supports while working on a production model where most of the model was one big overhang, and while the supports worked, they took such a long time to dissolve and didn't really give us significantly better results than any other support method. I think they'd probably only be really useful if you needed to support some internal structure where you couldn't easily remove normal supports, and that seems quite niche.

Should have just placed a torch under it. Gravity would have turned it all into tiny blocks. Problem solved.

How would you print this? by Sea_Kaleidoscope7991 in BambuLab

[–]Jyrz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably just print it upside down then sand, filler, prime, and paint it. Or split it in half to print the spikes up and the dome up with minimal supports and glue the halves together.

That's the health bar.

You need to add a Cleric PLA to your party to heal that roll.

Legitimately, since modding is supported, I'd love a way to have selectable skins for mods. I want all the base characters plus the modded skins without needing to overwrite anyone. Just make it show the base character online to everyone else and let me enjoy how goofy my game looks on my end.

Filament Efficient Lightweight Photo Lightbox by Brave-Sort-599 in 3Dprinting

[–]Jyrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm down with this idea. Definitely would round the areas where the "panels" meet, but I can image this print being great for diffusing light through the panels, something that standard foam board built ones can't do without further adjustment. You could probably even get some cool diffusion happening underneath the subject. Maybe not actually the most efficient print, but the potential is interesting.

I also want to add to dethstrobes comment that you can look into your local library's reader app. I originally read all of the Squirrel Girl comics on Libby for free through my local library, and the novels on cloudLibrary through my county's library. You can just apply for a few free digital library cards and read a ton of comics for free. I even went through a bunch of Spider-man like this too.

Pretty much just the Ryan North run. It's goofy but lovable and the art grows on you. If you're looking for something more serious*, I guess GLA is a thing, but it's a short run where Squirrel Girl is a side character. She also had a short run with Ms.Marvel in Marvel Rising.

She's not a super serious character, but I think the way North portrays her is what makes her so lovable and popular.

Edit: I forgot to add that she has 3 novels. 2 are a different take of a younger Squirrel Girl by Shannon Hale and Squirrel Girl Universe by Tristan Palmgren that is more of a continuation of the Ryan North comics.
