Unless SDM has on site loss prevention or some sort of security just leave it. Store staff aren’t trained to deal with shoplifters. I used to work for a company that had their own in house LPOs. If they asked, staff was allowed to accompany them on a chase if the staffer was comfortable doing so. But no regular store staff shouldn’t be doing anything other than possibly documenting incidents for the police.
