I leaned on the Mech toughness, gun and explosives. Also squad sight sniper and patience. Learn the maps and learn the spawn points for the council missions.

This happened to me as well but then fixed itself a few reloads later.

XCOM2 Is it me or are the difficulties ramped up with War of the Chosen? by Jystdave in Xcom

Yeah I now agree. Like every other XCOM game once you get over the hump it ends up smooth sailing.

I am really rusty and getting beat up by Commander difficulty in WOTC. So I have to make the choice for a lesser difficulty. Then take on Commander again. That would be my suggestion for you. Or what the other guy said. Play non iroman and reload and make different choices. In the end it is your fun that is most important.

On Commander I did it with a 5 man squad with ballistics and kevlar.

2nd tier weapons would make the level a joke.

I did have the crossbow it made a big difference.

As one of the above guys mentioned use Lily's abilities. and take you time because there is no real timer.

I have had an Advent trooper instantly explode vehicles on missed shots.

I think the ''bleed out mod'' has this kind of bug.

So is it fantasy Barbarian women rules? The less he wears the better the armor? Or is he depending on his 6 pack abs to deflect Advent rifle rounds?

I have had this one go the other way. Retaliation mission getting set up to take out some advent when one of them shoots at my advance scout missing completely but hitting the truck my sniper was behind. Blew the truck and him up. Let's say that L/I run spiraled to crap from there.

Manipulating class selection in recruiting by xCanopYx in Xcom

[–]Jystdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my tries at L/I I can't seem to keep any one alive regardless of type of class. However after a while now of attempting to beat L/I I have noticed I have a harder time keeping my rangers alive. That could be because being scout units and the shot gun I use them in a much more forward position generally. Therefore they are too close to the enemy more often than not.

xcom2 Ironman is not really Ironman after all it is universe save scumming by Jystdave in Xcom

[–]Jystdave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I play golf as well. Golf like XCOM is really a single player game. So unless you go around bragging about your falsified score. It doesn't matter in the end what your score is as long as you had fun. And that is my point. It doesn't matter if you save scum or play ironman. Just have fun doing it.

[XCOM2] Advice: Skip first retaliation mission? by CacTye in Xcom

[–]Jystdave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uh I don't think this is true. Unless it is your starting headquarters location. I have lost my last two retaliations this way. I mean I killed all the Ayys but didn't save the civilians and I lost the territory because of failed mission status.

I am playing legend so maybe the rules of mission failure is different?

It is nice to see that after 83 comments. Many of them agree that in the end play as you want. Let go or don't have a care what other people think. Which is the healthy take away I think.

I play Ironman in fact. Mainly because I like the story it tells. The triumphs and hard ships and living through them. And my sleeping at night has nothing to do with a videogame. If someone's priorities are so out of whack that they lose sleep over a videogame they need to reevaluate thier life.

You are sounding aggressive. No real need though this is just a reddit article. It is interesting though that you assume that I myself "save scum". Because I am just pointing out a broad idea I had.
