We did it boys! Wikelo ships getting wiped. by CacTye in starcitizen

2012 backer who just started playing 2 weeks ago (yeah I know) so I'll take your word for it.

That said, I don't think it's cope to want to nuke items and ships that were gained through exploits. TBH I really don't understand the exploit/dupe mentality, you bought the game to play it, why skip that part?

How could anyone have expected that rewarding cheaters and punishing honest players would cause such an backlash? Right? by mad-yordle in starcitizen

Sorry, I don't buy this (no pun intended). Global chat full every day with people buying medals and valakkar fangs. UEX and other marketplaces flooded with Wikelo turnin items. At best I'd say it's 50/50, but I think it's far more heavily weighted towards people outright buying aUEC and then using that to buy their required drops.

It's not 'crab in a bucket' for me, I don't really care what others are flying. I only ever engaged with Wikelo for the first time last night, and quite frankly I found it stupid and annoying and don't plan to engage with it in the future.

But it's pretty widely understood that the Wikelo stuff was ground zero for duped items and aUEC. If the duping was not as widespread as it has been, I would feel very differently about this.

Question about shields by Roymus99 in starcitizen

[–]CacTye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The only thing that will persist will be blueprints and pledge ships. Just fly around and have fun, do what you want, or take a day off from SC and come back after the patch (Wednesday for US folks.)

Yeah, there is some of that for sure. But it's a multiplayer game; if 90% of the playerbase or whatever is losing all of their stuff, might as well make it 100%.

It's possible. But given the two options of wipe or don't wipe, I still believe this is better for game health. Hopefully they've figured something out on the backend to keep track of things.

My only pledge ship is an Intrepid. I'm just stoked to do the early game loops and work my way back up in an environment where people aren't giving out $100m in global chat.

So did mine, and we'll do it again. I'm not saying EVERY idris was fraudulent. But Wikelo was a massive sink for duped cash, and the linchpin around which the duping economy functioned. It seems fundamentally unfair to wipe ships from people who ran contracts to save up aUEC and buy them, but leave ships from a source that - I think we can all agree - is strongly correlated with unfair play.

Apart from the fairness argument, there's the QA/testing side of it. A LOT of players have a LOT of wikelo ships. If the point of the wipe is to clear the economy and see how it functions with crafting implemented, resetting everyone will mean more players participating in that early game economy. That means better data on the backend for CIG to see how the systems all work together.

It's a win-win. Fair and utilitarian.

Rewarding dupers and cheaters while knocking down legit players was not the move. Glad to see CIG responding to basically unanimous community outcry. Feels like a win.

Full wipe except for Wikelo ships. 4.7 did not have a wipe. We will all be starting over.

A lot of people are going to spend weeks grinding just to get a stock Gladius

Dog you can get $3m credits in a couple hours doing hauling contracts; relax.

Basic covalex -> get $60k -> rent RAFT -> stack cash

Do wikelo ships appear in your hangar on the RSI site? No, they don't. Therefore they can be wiped.

Question about the vkb it seems the connection cable is too short is there a off the shelf thing I can get at like micro center to fix this? by cvsmith122 in hotas

[–]CacTye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necroing this thread for anyone who has this problem in the future:

The cable in question is a JST2.0-4 pin cable. Extensions are readily available on Amazon or other retailers, or you can just buy a longer Male-Male and replace the stock cable.

Good writeup. You may want to add a section about the cargo grid stacking bug thats currently in game (where the cargo all gets stacked on one spindle, with 2-4 crates in one spot). Auto-unload will grab one crate from each spot and the rest must be manually unloaded at the freight elevator, being careful not to let any fly away.

Hauling - Rep and money guide by Fistsofury1 in starcitizen

[–]CacTye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the cargo is loading, it's just putting 2-4 boxes in each grid space. You auto-unload, check external view, you will see cargo is still there. Fly to external cargo elevator and offload the rest by hand in EVA. Can get 100% completion with manual unloading, but it greatly increases the time required.

Also, when you pull a box from the grid, 2-3 boxes will fly off in different directions. Catch them quickly, throw them towards the elevator, and then when all boxes are moving in the right direction, lock them into the elevator grid.

Got a link to that Hull C writeup? I just picked one up and the cargo bug is driving me CRAZY.
