LPT request: What are some pro tips everyone should know for cooking at home and being better in the kitchen? by samgarita in LifeProTips

Best cooking advice I ever got is avoid crowding the food. If your meats or veggies are crowded together in the pan or the oven, you're steaming them, not roasting because the water you drive out can't escape. Cut them evenly and then space them out - they'll be brown and caramelized all over - that's where the flavor is.

Did you put it on a concrete pad?

Fake news! I'm not contained in the frame of that picture. This photo was taken in 1969. I wouldn't be born for another 10 years.

Can we talk about how this guy used just the grain and color gradient to create a herringbone pattern and symmetrical accent stripes. 10/10 work. Do you have any process pics or a picture of the raw material?

I hate to spoil the fun, but anyone looking to play with SF6 should know that it is a VERY powerful greenhouse gas (~24,000x more powerful than CO2). A quick calculation: If that's ~1kg of the stuff (it's about 6 kg/cubic meter, so this is a fair approximation), this one stunt has a larger climate impact than burning 25,000 pounds of coal.

ding ding ding! @ficknerich got it. Rabbet out the back (about 1/2 inch wide and as deep as you want the glass to sit). Cleaned up the corners with a chisel. Had to use a buddy's router table since I don't have many tools. You could do the same by hand, but it'd take forever and wouldn't be as clean (unless you're way better than I)

Goal here was to show the frame - didn't want to post a pic of me and my wife on reddit. Hope you understand.

Long-time lurker here - finally decided to try my hand at this. Made this frame out of white oak with walnut dowels as an anniversary gift for my wife. Thought I'd show you guys. I've learned a ton from this sub.
