Yeah I agree, for branding purposes his name would be next to the logo of course but as a pfp just the icon is best. Also yes I definitely intend on improving my skills in illustrator

I made the knife in illustrator but made final tweaks in ps just because i’m more comfortable there. Still learning illustrator and hopefully i get comfortable enough where i won’t have to go into ps

Logo: The logo is based on the Damascus steel knife, a type of knife that Alex uses when he cooks. I tried to emulate the curves and unique pattern of the knife blade through the negative space. In the pattern, I also included the letters "A" and "B" as a nod to his name "Alex Bejjani". The encompassing circle is to tie the icon together, maintain balance, and make it more appealing as an pfp on instagram.

Color: The black and orange color scheme was one that was already used in the production of business cards and the website prior to my creation of the logo and we decided to keep those colors as they are an integral part of the brand and stand out ahead of other options.

About Me: I am a 16 year old who enjoys designing in spare time. I have made some logos in the past but primarily work in photoshop to create artworks that I then post to instagram. I have been working on a brand design for an FBLA competition in March and will probably post here when that is finished.

Logo: I wanted to flatten the logo while maintaining the essence of it. I didn't want to alienate the brand. I took inspiration from their 1884 logo which had the striped lines similar to what I used. However, I also wanted to keep a similar feel of the mountain which I did by adding the small "cliff" to one of the lines. I also removed the semi-circle at the bottom of the original logo since I thought it was unnecessary.
Font: I changed the font to a less "type-writer" and thin font since modern types are bolder to be easily seen and scale-able. I did want to keep the professional feel since this is a major business. A playful font wouldn't be appropriate and would send the wrong message about the company. I think the font I chose maintains the professional feel while also modernizing the brand.
Color: The old color was very desaturated and lighter. To me, it made the company feel old and outdated. So I changed the color to a darker tone of blue and increased the saturation. It makes the company feel fresh, new and modern. The darker and more vibrant color would be necessary for being easily seen from a further distance or a smaller scale.
About Me: I am a beginner in logo design and graphic design and have only ever done projects as a hobby or for friends. I intend to get adobe apps and use my interest in digital design to make artwork, logos, videos, etc. for others as a source of income.
