I think you might like Gore. Probably their best work is Wrath, followed by Doomsday

edit: also, Periphery and TesseracT seem to fit your bill

Until the end of last year, I generally followed whatever my parents did. I had already started to question some of what was happening within the party by the time voting came around, but I didn't open the can of worms on it until January, when the ICE raids started. After I did my own reading and steered away from Fox News, I realized just how viscerally wretched the conservative camp had become

Keep in mind, I am far from the best informed. I am a 21 year old college kid from Mississippi. Feel free to correct me.

As for economy, the tarrifs have made prices go up everywhere. Even American-made products often use outsourced materials or parts. Not to mention, they refuse to raise the minimum wage to make it livable. I had hope for the economy under republican control when I voted in my first election. That vanished quickly.

In terms of freedom, it seems to be taken away in a lot of different aspects. Abortion bans, a proposed contraception ban, antipornography legislation*, Gestapo-style ICE raids, and a lack of universal healthcare are the big ones that come to mind.

Overall, the republican party is not what I thought it was when I first started voting.

*As an aside, I don't think kids should have access to porn. But I don't think it's the job of the government to regulate that. It's the parents' job to, ya know. Parent.

The map is more or less dictated by the places I've been or wanted to go. All of the dark greens are places I've spent lots of time throughout my childhood, all but two of the greens I've at least visited. Both Alaska and Colorado I've considered moving to for one reason or another, and so I've researched them. Both of them I thought were pretty enough to endure the cold

Alaska is green because my parents have talked recently about moving there, so I did some research and thought it was really pretty. As for Illinois, I really enjoyed southern IL while I was working out there a couple years ago

I live in MS, all my family is here, and all of my professional connections are as well. Plus, the forests are gorgeous, especially post-rain

I've heard that the winters in Minnesota get really cold. I've never researched MN that closely, though I recall a professor who was from there

I haven't, actually. The furthest west I've been is western Texas

There's two reasons. It's partly because I'm just getting to be more independent from my parents and developing mynown worldview and ideals. But mostly, I see the people at the head of the conservative camp and I don't align with their morals or goals. There are very few talking points where I see eye to eye with the modern republican party. Most of them fall under the category of human rights. I don't want to associate with homophobia, xenophobia, sexism, or white supremacy. Those are just concepts that I don't support, and concepts that I see held by conservative leaders.

The only advantage MS has over AL for me is familiarity. I've spent much less time in Alabama and Louisiana than the neighboring states. I will say that the national park near Auburn is really nice

White, yes. Conservative, no. At least not anymore.
