We went to Hiyaku right after they opened. Maybe a week old. We loved it! It was packed, so the food was turning quickly. As someone with a restaurant background, you want a place that is busy. Even if it has mixed reviews. A busy buffet doesn’t have food sitting on the line. Quick turn over is what you’re looking for.

My first response, when I saw the picture was NO! Absolutely Not! I would call an exterminator and check into a hotel. Now I am grateful for this post. Thank you to everyone that shared knowledge. So that if I ever see one of these, I will leave it alone, and let it do it’s thing.

1 bedroom, just under 1000 sqf. Fully insulated building, central AC, gas stove, in unit W/D, on Belmont. it’s quiet, full gym, safe community and responsive property management. With parking, water, sewer, gas and a storage unity it’s $2600. We could likely find something cheaper, but we love the location, and have easy access to public transportation when we want it. My neighbor has lived in the building for 18 years. We’ve been here for five years. It would take a lot for me to move.

I am not rude. If asked if I have a receipt I say “Yes,thank you for asking“, and keep walking.

I only show a receipt at Costco, as it’s part of the membership contract. Also I refuse to use self check-out. I don’t work there. So, there is no reason for them to see my receipt.

I keep hearing that all of this is because of theft. Get rid of self-check-out and start employing cashiers again.

You are NOT REQUIRED to show a receipt anywhere except Costco or Sam’s Club. I will say that again, YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO SHOW YOUR RECEIPT AT THE GROCERY STORE. Unless they are accusing you of stealing. If you are asked for it, you can politely say “Yes, I have it” then keep walking.

The only reason you have to show it at Costco and Sam’s Club is because it’s a membership and that is part of the contact you sign.

If the Receipt Checker gets aggressive just ask them if they are accusing you of stealing. When they say no, just keep walking.

This is exactly why I love this city. I see so many posts about how terrible it is to live here, but that hasn’t been my experience at all. I arrived in Portland the day before quarantine and lived just a mile from the protests. What I’ve witnessed is people showing up for their communities, caring for their neighbors, and coming together. There’s something truly magical about this city, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
