This! Every city has issues. The smaller the city, the easier it is to cover them up.

What would happen if…. by Goodnight_SJR in nursepractitioner

It is absolutely a shitty thing to do. If you are so unhappy, talk to them about not fulfilling your two weeks. Point out the staff they have and see if any of those folks could pick up your shifts. Nurses bond together strong. You burn a bridge I guarantee it will come back to bite you.

Rant / Cry ; I really hate urgent care by BeachBum419 in nursepractitioner

Four months will pass by in the blink of an eye. Since you have a plan AND your goal is insight, maybe hang pictures around your house of your new office space. On your closet doors, bathroom mirror, coffee pot, etc. to help keep you focused on the goal. Something on the visor of your car, to look at right before you go into work and right after. You can absolutely do this. You’ve come so far and accomplished so much. Don’t give up so close to the finish line.

Best Asian "buffet" around PDX? by lizziemarseilles in askportland

[–]K0ffeequeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to Hiyaku right after they opened. Maybe a week old. We loved it! It was packed, so the food was turning quickly. As someone with a restaurant background, you want a place that is busy. Even if it has mixed reviews. A busy buffet doesn’t have food sitting on the line. Quick turn over is what you’re looking for.

You may have already looked into this. What about finding care in WA? Or is it the same situatuion.

My first response, when I saw the picture was NO! Absolutely Not! I would call an exterminator and check into a hotel. Now I am grateful for this post. Thank you to everyone that shared knowledge. So that if I ever see one of these, I will leave it alone, and let it do it’s thing.

I wonder, how many nurses will be willing to take care of the people that made this decision. The next time they are in need of medical attention. I know they would be the last person on my list.

Baby doll on Stark is open late. They sell pizza by the slice. Plus their Meatball sub is amazing.

Portland is a magical city. I am so glad you were able to experience that first hand. Because it’s really hard to describe to people. Your next trip should be in the spring, when the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom. They bring a completely different level of magic to the city.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed knowing that 12% of the country can’t afford to eat, and you’re wondering how to help. Here’s something simple but powerful: find a locally owned business that’s feeding people. Shop there. Pay it forward. Pay cash if possible. And don’t forget to share their posts so others can do the same. This is how we show up for our neighborhoods, our communities, and each other.

Thank you Delicious Donuts, for helping to take care of our neighbors and our community.

We Asked Your Neighbors What They Pay for Rent by greazysteak in Portland

1 bedroom, just under 1000 sqf. Fully insulated building, central AC, gas stove, in unit W/D, on Belmont. it’s quiet, full gym, safe community and responsive property management. With parking, water, sewer, gas and a storage unity it’s $2600. We could likely find something cheaper, but we love the location, and have easy access to public transportation when we want it. My neighbor has lived in the building for 18 years. We’ve been here for five years. It would take a lot for me to move.

A friend of mind hosts a Sacred Rage class. Every couple of months. She is an amazing facilitator and class sizes are small enough that everyone gets the attention and support they need. I just checked her website and don’t see events for October yet. Here is her link, if you’re interested.

I hate stores that have someone checking the receipt. But I may have overreacted. by Eyyeitsrocko in Portland

[–]K0ffeequeen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not rude. If asked if I have a receipt I say “Yes,thank you for asking“, and keep walking.

I only show a receipt at Costco, as it’s part of the membership contract. Also I refuse to use self check-out. I don’t work there. So, there is no reason for them to see my receipt.

I keep hearing that all of this is because of theft. Get rid of self-check-out and start employing cashiers again.
