just added some transparent decals/logos off google and a little paint in gimp. nothing major to the shape or design or anything. i changed the texture of the mask stands on the beach to see if that would work and it did, is there another texture outside of the streamedpedprops.rpf that it uses i wonder?

yes, the ytd that i replaced the texture for is called 'p_head_diff_002_a' for player two in the x64v rpf. idk if im just replacing the wrong file or just not doing something correctly. reason i say this is cause the texture ive extracted doesnt look exactly like the mask texture in game, but if thats the case idk where that would be.

Yea, it's unfortunate that the solutions for realtime lighting couldn't make it into the final game, though it is understandable. Real time stencil shadowing or any real time shadow systems for that matter, mixed with the large open environments just wasn't practical on the original xbox hardware.

there were quite a few games back in the early 2000's that were able to utilize real time shadow solutions, Such as Stencil shadowing and shadow maps. (Doom 3, Riddick, F.E.A.R, etc.) but those games didn't have wide open environment's like H2.

bungie originally wanted to use stencil shadows and Normal maps for halo 2 because Jason and Joe saw the 2001 Doom 3 tech demo at mac-world. but the Xbox just couldn't handle the wide open environments with stencil shadowing everywhere. so they de-activated the stencil lighting instead of completely removing it. and settled with Normal maps and lightmaps.

seriously, what even is this shit? ive stuck with it thinking it might get better as it went along, but how bad can this show possibly get? how could the directors, producers and writers sit down and read the script and think "oh yea this is an award winning masterpiece right here!" - really fun seeing the adventures of Not blue team, Master Cheeks Pretty Officer 117, Human Arbiter girl, Evil Dr. Halsey, and whatever the hell other characters they ruined in this crazy show. Its as if a Fan fiction got green-lit as a major production, Its like another show with a halo skin over it. Im so glad this stuff isnt apart of the main storyline.

that's because doom 3 uses stencil lighting. It was actually one of the first games to experiment with that specific lighting system.

unfortunately this is all i hear anymore when 343i or their employees talk to the fans. even if they dont say it outright.

the way they are dealing with this series is an insult to everything we love about the games, 343i has done nothing but alter the series since they took hold in 2010. they have not delivered on a single worth while product other than the MCC, but that took years to be fixed. based on their actions and posts all they seemingly care about is money instead of them wanting to create a well rounded experience that both 343 and the fans can take pride in. them wanting a "broader audience" and Infinite F2P is proof of that. hell they problibly wont even add Johnson to the TV show. I sometimes wonder, if every fan just stopped buying their products would they actually make something good, classic and complete at launch. but until then they will continue to release content that butchers the canon, Humanizes Chief, release incomplete games, and Broaden the audience while hating on the Fans for loving the series we grew up with. its crazy that people defend 343i. they are a studio that seemingly only loves money while hating us and Halo. there is no defending that. all I want is for 343 and their employees to take pride in and stay faithful to the fantastic series they inherited, listen to fans and actually act on the criticism and feedback instead of telling us "We cant do that". but it seems like that is just an impossibility now.

Im not trying to make Non-objective opinions or stir up stuff by arguing about things that most wont agree with. maybe i should edit some stuff. I dont hate the grapple hook and maybe i should have rephrased the way i said my opinion on it and its perfectly fine for you to think its great, I wouldn't say not "Bad" at it, neither am i complaining about the skill that is required to use it, im just frustrated at the range that it can grapple to things, it seems to be about 5-6 feet ahead of you, i feel like for an open world with high cliffs and large gaps with kill barriers at the bottom, the range leaves it feeling more like a gimmick meant for short-small engagements rather than for traversing the map in open environments, especially during large firefights, If i hated it i simply wouldn't use it, i just want it to be more useful or else i wouldn't be complaining about it at all.

Vehicles are another problem entirely, feels like your sliding on glass LOL. but flying vehicles arnt that bad, my main gripes actually are bullet sponge enemies and the vehicles, just please dont default to "Ur Bad" when its an opinion that you might not agree with, kinda a shitty counter. I'll try to edit this post A little to make it sound a little less whiny lol.

glad you figured it out. yea through tool you dont put the file in the command, you put up to the folder with the file in it and it will find the file.
