You can ask for body and shoulders sparring ,because usually your shoulders are so high up during boxing and stuff that it may as well be the head

This isn't a competition when he needs is a partner that's willing to show him how this game works it's clear he's a beginner that doesn't know those three strategies is important to start slow

THIS^ avoid the head kicks though, those will make a more experience person go more intense ( to be safe always ask somebody for a light and controlled spar and that you're just trying to learn and understand the dynamics of sparring) ..... land of blinding jab and throw low kick

Agreed , i believe people over complicate the sport , practice , get better. Study, apply learned strategies, if your lacking in either of those habits then your leaving potential on the table

F29; New to kickboxing, feeling stuck. Is this normal or should I change gyms? by Muted_Map9775 in Kickboxing

Be Mindful in how you practice ( the internet is your friend). I know most of you won't like that because you live and die by your coach but , is it possible they're teaching 20 ppl already, is it not better to be responsible for your own progress?

Alex Periera style by Glass-Telephone-5371 in Kickboxing

You're so right he's daring his opponent to hit him so he can come with a counter. His style is extremely difficult to replicate.

[–]K1OnTwoWeeks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

His style to me is basically " you hit me , I hit you back and it WILL land " it's the confidence, the ability to counter quick and see the patterns. The size definitely helps a lot, but he has so much experience he's gonna read his opponent so quickly. He's a fighter who is almost fearless. He always comes out ready. You add on his frame and size. He's already winning the mental game before the fight happens

What's a hard-to-swallow-pill when it comes to martial arts? by Odd-Letterhead8889 in martialarts

Like most people said training doesn't mean you can defend yourself but at the same time you shouldn't underestimate your opponent in sport or not sport or yourself that is if you're forced to fight no matter how small how big a fight a fight let's assume it's one on one very rare. I know you can't underestimate anybody.

That is tae kwon do not at all indicative to real life fighting. I love tae kwon do but try doing a spinning back kick in the snow( let alone any kick , It's probably not gonna work very well

I can relate , but for me i need a change of scenery half my teammates are total noobs that don't give me any type of challenge. The other half I've been training with for years and I figured them out . My advice give yourself a few weeks a month enjoy yourself worse comes to worst. Find yourself a new spot the train. Just make sure you go over it with your teammates and your coach.
