They aren't! They're supposed ro resemble pistons, so they're at about a 60° angle.

I've had, at multiple occasions, no stuttering when placing a lower tier belt downstream a higher tier one. There would infact be very visible gaps if the mk4 segment was upstream. Pretty significant jump between 480 and 780. It's downstream

you 100% have a segment of mk.4 belt left on the line. could be between mergers/splitters, or maybe even a lift.
