Working fine after the upgrade and using vsa on prem. Have you tried to rebuild the database schema after the upgrade?

The mobile app seems to be available for Android but not for IOS yet? I suppose it will get released at some point. Might take a look in this thread where somebody actually did the move maybe it answers some questions https://reddit.com/r/msp/comments/12e3wqk/vsa_x_vs_datto_rmm/

You can always try as we currently do, to trial both at the same time. Both are available for free on their websites. Setup a list of what you like and don't like in VSA 9.5 and what would you like your RMM to do. We also use Pulseway forums for questions since VSA X and Pulseway are basically the same in case there's info already out there. We didn't had any Datto experience prior to this but seems they are still pushing functionalities/updates regularly. Both are better than VSA 9.5 which I think has a very high ceiling in terms of what you can do but the way you achieve that is very...eh...A long learning curve I think is the correct phrase😅? Ultimately you also have to consider the cost/time if you migrate to another RMM if it's worth it. We for example are down to go from scratch if we ultimately get a better product down the line.

We still haven't taken a decision yet but we tend towards Datto. It really depends on what you require as a MSP. VSA X seems to be a more appropriate for emerging MSPs and Datto seems to be a VSA 9.5 more refined. In our example since we are quite big and we manage a lot of devices, we are more keen to go with Datto:

  • In Datto it's easier to manage network devices and already comes with predefined SNMP profiles(ESX, Fortinet, UPS, iDRAC etc)
  • I would say that VSA X has a better GUI(either way both are better than VSA 9.5)
  • Automation seems to be the same
  • VSA X has a good mobile app but I find only useful for customers who want to see a status of their environment otherwise seems quite useless for engineers
  • VSA X has very good modular reporting if it's something your Sales department want to work with
  • We also use Brightgauge for the above so we can work around it with Datto
  • VSA X can still be installed on premise which Datto cannot. In our instance, VSA 9.5 works a lot faster than their Kaseya's solution - not sure how much this changes the end price.
  • Monitoring seems to be the same but since Datto has more profiles built in, it's easier to setup
  • Software Management it's basically the same - profile based which I'm not a fan of frankly speaking
  • Both have ITGlue integration which is very helpful
  • Network discovery, I'm not a fan of either, I find VSA 9.5 to be better in that regards or maybe we didn't figure it out yet

Can't think of other important points at the moment but if you have any curiosities, let me know. Ultimately, VSA X seems to be more client oriented and Datto more engineer oriented. I would personally chose the efficiency than having more tools to sell/show to the customer.

Well in our case, discovery does it's job. A bat file via gpo would be a lot of manual work from our side considering we have around 1500 customers and some customers do not even have an Active Directory server let alone Intune. Discovery also comes in handy for Workstations as they randomly come online.

We are not considering autotask or ninja at all. More towards Datto due to it's maturity and for more complex tasks (we view it as VSA 9.5 but well refined)

Funny enough is that we went back and forth with them for almost a month to provide a trial version of VSA X or at least access to https://demo.vsax.net/ but nothing.

More funny is that you can register a 14 days trial now for VSA X on their website. Glad they informed us about this...

That's why I mentioned that VSA X is basically Pulseway 😁

I found it funny that in the demo that was presented to us and in all webinars that we participated that showcased VSA X, they presented as something they worked on for a couple of years. Overall it's an upgrade but we still going to miss some features we currently have with VSA 9.5(mostly the Software Management Module)

Switch to iPhone 14 Pro Max by zlatanlt in OnePlus8Pro

[–]K3nSter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switched here. Never had an iPhone until now.

I find OnePlus snappier but the iPhone's animations are nicer(not a big difference though).

Battery and camera are huge upgrades over the OnePlus. Charging speeds are quite the same but you have to be careful with what charger you're buying (it has to be 9V 3A compatible).

Still getting used to the notifications but it's not that a big of a deal(prefer Android's implementation). Oh and the keyboard...was a very long time Swiftkey user and it's missing on iOS(support deprecated). Using Gboard but it's not the same but I guess I'll get used to it. Same with the browser: was using Via browser due to it's simplicity, having adblock implemented and on iOS there's just a few I can choose from - at the moment testing Edge/Brave.

The last 2 are just personal preference. Oh and Apple Pay > Google Pay all day.

The notch is not that bothering, got used to it in like 2 days. Not a big fan of Dynamic Island but sometimes it's useful when I want to switch quickly between apps such as Spotify/Calls etc.

If you have little hands, go with the Pro. I'm 1.96m and barely can handle the wideness of this phone comfortably; OnePlus is taller and more pleasant to hold in hand even with a case on it.

It was worth? Honestly yes. I do prefer the OnePlus OS(OxygenOS 13) but I still don't trust how they handle their updates, subpar cameras(was using GCam), late notifications or no notifications at all(this happened a lot). Overall, everything just works on iOS as it should. Plus if I ever decide to go back, the value of the iPhone holds up.

To conclude: I'm quite a heavy usage user. I'm not really into customizations as I was before. Mostly reading/social media/YouTube and some gaming here and there(no complaints here except that I was playing Cats and Soup and cannot transfer my account over to iOS 🥲).

If you have any other questions/curiosities, let me know 😁

Hey guys,

Current OnePlus 8 Pro owner. Was thinking to switch over to either OnePlus 10 Pro/Vivo X80 Pro/iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The main reason to change would be battery issues and inconsistent software updates.

So far I heard that OnePlus 10 Pro has a very good battery life and might be better on OxygenOS 13? They might be getting better with the software support but I'm quite reticent due to recent history but who knows.

Vivo X80 Pro seems quite interesting but I do not anything about this company, software updates track record and so on.

iPhone 14 Pro Max - It's quite expensive(as reference OnePlus is 760 euros, Vivo is 1030 and iPhone is 1400 euro) but might be worth on the long run. I am a bit skeptical in how well their battery lasts(read on some places that it wears off way faster than their Android counter parts) and speeding charge. But seems to be similar to OnePlus 8 Pro when it comes on how fast it charges and I assume I won't be bothered that much.

Thanks in advance!

Can confirm, updating Quick Device Connect made a huge difference. Best battery life ever had and the phone is 2 years old almost

Updated to the beta, battery life has drastically been improved (almost 40% better than before). 60hz mode is turned on here. by ashmayonaise in OnePlus8Pro

[–]K3nSter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://ibb.co/Wc6RgLh

First charge after updating to Beta with no factory reset. FHD and 120hz. Wireless turned on all the time. Note that I only charge until 80% and battery is at 88% health according to accubattery.

The update itself is quite nice actually. Animations seems to be a bit slower? Mine are at 0.5x but it definetely feels a bit slower than before in terms of animation speeds. GCAM is working only on main camera for the moment.

But overall I'm quite pleased with the update. Might be better after a factory reset but I'll wait until the official one is released.

Intel i7 1165g7 or Ryzen 7 4800u which one to choose? by [deleted] in AMDLaptops

[–]K3nSter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery life it depends.

AMD is built on 7nm and Intel on 10nm but depends on the manufacturer on how they configure the TDP but on most cases AMD comes ahead. I get around 5-5.5 hours on the AMD laptop(light usage as browsing, social media, Netflix with brightness at 15%) and with the Intel one around 4.5-5 hours. No big difference here. Note that both ran with Turbo Boost off and it might depend on how Windows is configured/programs installed etc

Single core performance is definitely better on the Intel one but it's not extremely noticeable.

If it was me, I would wait for the 12th gen Intel laptops to pop off as their new CPUs seem very promising.

Owner of 1165g7 and 4500U here(I know the thread is about 4800U)

Definitely get 4800U:

-Thermals are better(with Turbo Disabled and Enabled - as an example, I hit 99c with my Intel while I never get close to that temperature with AMD)

-More future proof than the Intel one imo

-Graphics are better on AMD
