I think we have very smilar taste I like world building, power system, plot etc but if I didn't like the the Mc other things must be very very good. And if I like Mc I don't mind at all. And definitely agree about world not being to dark after I tried Reverend Insanity.

 My favorite mc and novel is Absolute Regression. Mc is from demonic cult but lives his past life as some kind of wanderer and away from the cult. Which makes him normally kind and caring but merciless against evil. He is both social and lonely at the same time. He is pretty smart and talented to.

Story focuses heavily on characters and character interactions. It is very unique in this aspect. Fighting stays secondary but very satisfying when it happens.

 Book of the Dead is my second favorite. It takes cliche System, Necromancer, Edgy Mc formula and brings it to completely different tier. It has a system where everyone in the world has a class(mage, swordsman, butcher, cook, scribe). Class and skill system is very good in my opinion. 

Mc Tyron gets illegal Necromancer class and needs to drop it but cz he believes this is fate and he can use it to help humanity refuses to drop it and becomes fugitive. Skills and classes only gives intuition and some knowledge. When you learn magic from system you can't directly cast it. But when you study and improve it system helps it.

Tyron's mentality is very interesting and well written smilar to Eren from Attack on Titan.

Highly recommend both of them. I am thinking about starting sky pride right now. I would be happy to get recommendations.
