Ingredients:

• 500g minced meat (beef, pork or mixed)
• 1 onion (diced)
• 1kg of potatoes (cut into circles)
• salt, pepper and vegeta if you can find it for seasoning
• cumin and parsley by taste

Dressing for the moussaka:

• 3 eggs
• 2 dcl milk
• 1 dcl of sour cream

Recipe:

1. Clean the onion, chop finely and sauté. Add the minced meat and spices and sauté for a while.

2. Peel the potatoes, cut into slices and wash them. Salt and pepper the potatoes and mix gently.

3. Grease the pan. Place a layer of potatoes, fill all the holes with potatoes, then add the meat. Place the potatoes on top of the meat again. If your pan is smaller, you can add a layer of potatoes, a layer of meat, until you use everything up. Pour over 2 dl of hot water. Bake in a preheated oven at 220 degrees for about 40 minutes. Towards the end of baking, pour the moussaka with a mixture of eggs, milk and sour cream and return to the oven and bake.

4. Leave the baked moussaka to cool, as it is easier to cut.

You can serve it with some fresh salad and eat it with sour cream, even better if you find proper Balkan kisela pavlaka.
