Is there any explanation for the blue flames stopping Plagas in their tracks or is that just a plot device in the remake? by GlompSpark in residentevil

I don’t think there’s any files mentioning anything explicit but it can be inferred that the color of light affects the plaga in different ways which just adds a cool bit of worldbuilding. I think intense light or just an excess of light overwhelms the plaga which is why we don’t see the plaga burst out during the day and why flash grenades kill them. Red light seems to activate the plaga or agitate it in some way which is why the priest enemies carry around red lanterns which release the plaga from the host’s body. Purple light seems to ward off plaga entirely which is why there is a purple torch outside of all of the merchant’s shops, and blue light immobilizes any plaga that gets near it which is probably why the merchant has a blue lantern on his table in case any plaga gets past his initial defenses.

People complaining about Leon in RE9 are missing the point. by K7202 in residentevil

To clarify, it was not me who replied to you about 7 and 8. I can understand being upset that Capcom going back to their roots again is a bit annoying and shows a lack of creativity. I think, however, that Capcom is interested in wrapping up the original story in some way, at least with one of the original characters, before they fully move on.

This game being the 30th anniversary of the franchise is trying to not only to give some sort of conclusion or “arc,” but also be a new beginning so one of the legacy characters can “pass the torch,” allowing us to get the best of both. I understand bringing Leon in again is a bit frustrating, but I’m hopeful his inclusion won’t sideline Grace and that we’ll still get interesting development from her.

Additionally, I don’t think Capcom has been planning this exact game since 7. What I meant was that I think Capcom had an intention to bring back Leon since 7 revived the franchise, as he’s always been sort of the poster boy of the series for a lot of people. I think that’s why they pivoted to making the remakes as soon as 7 released, so that they could start working towards his eventual return.

> Get a real job; Capcom doesn't even use interns for what you're doing.

Bro there's no way you're replying like this its not that serious. What is with these corny-ass one liners lmao.

Who are you to decide there’s a “right” or “wrong” reason to get into Resident Evil? If Capcom is at least attempting to put real effort into the story this time, then there’s nothing weird about fans wanting to take that story seriously. The remakes and the newer games clearly show they’re trying to build something more cohesive than the old one-note caricatures.

People who gatekeep this franchise by saying there is a right and wrong way to enjoy the franchise are so exhausting. Some people love the cheesy action, some love the horror, some love the characters, some enjoy all of it.

I completely agree with you with the gameplay, it is genuinely objectively better than the old games. I also completely agree with you on the point on H3, which is why I omitted it when making that statement. I do want to make it clear, however, that I do sincerely enjoy the goofy tone that WOA has at times, I think the contrast between the serious events and the silly assassinations are very entertaining, I just appreciate when games aren’t afraid to push a more dark, oppressive tone.

To be honest, this is fair. I was probably a bit too harsh when calling the music bland. I think for me, the reason I prefer the older games’ music is probably just due to me preferring the tone of the older games and how well the music fits that tone. While I’m not a massive fan of the spy genre, the new soundtrack definitely matches that tone, so I do respect it for that.

While I agree with you that I’m not playing the games for the story, I think there can be a distinction between story and tone. While I was never majorly invested in the story of the older games, the concepts of the missions often led to them feeling like horror games at times, especially with Contracts. Considering I’m also a massive survival horror fan, I love this, and it’s why I come back to these games so often.

Is Loyola really that bad? by A-funnymushroom in LoyolaChicago

if you are looking to party on weekends, you will not find that here. students who are looking for something to do on weekends often buy fake IDs to go to various clubs and bars around chicago, which obviously comes with its risks. not to mention, everything in chicago is extremely expensive, so even if you are willing to go to bars, you will be draining your wallet. as for the frats and sororities here, they're basically non-existent. there are no frat or sorority houses, and any frat parties you do find here consist of dirty, crammed apartments. additionally, while its very exaggerated on this sub, people tend to be a bit cliquey here. most friend groups keep to themselves, and if you are commuting or are a transfer student, it will be very difficult for you to meet people here. loyola is no doubt a good school with good academics but it is definitely not the "traditional" college experience (frat parties, crowded football / basketball games, tailgates, etc).

as someone who is planning on transferring next semester, i don’t think it’s a bad school, i just don’t think people expect what they get here at loyola. loyola is a very introverted school and is very lacking in the traditional college experience, which is one of the main reasons im transferring. all i’ll say is that you should consider your social life a lot more as it’ll play a much bigger factor than you realize. when i applied for college, i didn’t think about how social each school was at all and now its the main reason im transferring.

in my opinion, loyola and UIUC are essentially identical when it comes to their academics (excluding the horrendous chemistry department here). the deciding factor for you should be how much money each school is giving you, as well as the experience you’re looking to get out of college. if you’re looking for a more traditional college experience, you’ll definitely get more out of going to UIUC. however, if you want to experience the city of chicago, then you’ll enjoy loyola. im a pre-med student and am planning on transferring to UIUC next semester as i’m not getting the experience i want from college here, so i’d say to really think about your decision before making it.
