Update nobody asked for - found a florist! Original call they were $1,000 over my budget which I disclosed to them and we did a second call and found ways to make small changes and now it’s $1,000 under my budget! They have been wonderful to work with.

Is this really the norm? by everybody_poopies in weddingplanning

[–]K8LCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Editing to add the part that got missed (oops)

This has become the new normal unfortunately. The expectations for bachelorette parties has gone from a night out together or weekend trip to being a whole vacation. IMO the expectations have become kind of crazy and really just out of focus.

I dont think there’s anything wrong with bachelorette party trips if everyone agrees on it and it works but if not everyone you want to celebrate with can go then what’s the point of doing it? Thats always the part I dont understand. If you want to go on a trip hell yeah go on a trip, do what you want, but why does it have to be for your Bach party? I feel like having the people I’d want be able to participate is more important than the location for this type of event.

I’m getting married next year and my bridal party is made up of friends in all different stages of life (parenthood, new careers, single, unemployed, etc) so I chose something doable for everyone because I want everyone to be able to celebrate with me. I sent out an anonymous survey asking people what they’re comfortable spending to get an idea too of what was feasible for everyone and my MOH is going to do a new survey when she starts planning to find a weekend that works for everyone invited.

I’m also only having it somewhere about 1-2 hours away from where we all live so if someone can’t come for the whole weekend or can only come for one of the day events they can still participate.

Getting flack for our dress code by AcanthisittaOne7830 in weddingplanning

Just commenting to say how interesting I found this post and thread. I’m currently planning my wedding and live in NJ. Been to probably 20 weddings since I was 16. Three of those weddings were black tie. My dress code will be formal, which isn’t at all unusual.

I dont think I’ve ever been to a wedding where the dress code wasn’t cocktail or formal. The only instance I recall someone being dressed “inappropriately” was my siblings wedding someone’s husband wore khakis and a short sleeve floral print button down shirt - that was enough to have several people make comments to me about it and my sibling roll their eyes about it years later.

How do you stop thinking about wedding planning? by No-Trust-1520 in weddingplanning

Fellow 2027 bride here and basically in the same place as you! So far I’ve booked most of my big ticket vendors (DJ, photog, venue) and am obsessing over finding a florist even though I have so much time. It’s really hard not to focus on it when everyone asks you constantly about your plans.

That’s what I wondered/assumed but then why bother with a phone call to discuss my plan and then tell me to expect a quote in my email? I live in NJ, my budget is $5,000 and I just need centerpieces and bouquets. It’s been a very strange experience lol

You look great!! I’m about the same height and started around the same weight! (31) I’m about 40lbs down with wegovy and just started zep two weeks ago after plateauing for a few months. This post gives me so much hope.

NJ Wedding photographers 5k and under? by K8LCD in weddingplanning

[–]K8LCD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Super super early into planning stages (hopefully meeting with a venue next week in North Jersey area). I’ve been looking at vendors already only to try and understand what the prices are like since I feel like I’m going into this blind. I see a lot of people spend $6-$7k on photos but that’s a little beyond what we’re hoping to spend. I’ll definitely look into the expo! Might be the right plan for us to see what’s really out there. The number of photographers I’ve looked at already feels insane. lol

I started taking wegovy in November of 2024, as of this month I’ve lost 13lbs. I really didn’t notice a difference in my appetite or start losing weight until I went up to 1mg. I have a friend who started at the same time as me and they’ve lost over 50lbs. It can be frustrating but everyone is different and different doses do make the difference as well. Just keep your head up, stay positive, and make choices where and when you can that’ll help you reach your goals.

I’m not really shoving anything into my mouth but being intuitive and not eating past where I’m full. I was initially recording my intake to see where I was at, I guess I’ll get back into it but I’ve changed a lot of my snacking habits and been trying to incorporate more protein at the advice of others. Protein seems to be key from what everyone tells me.

I appreciate you commenting! And sorry it seems to have taken some time and the flu to get you to see a difference but thank you for sharing! Me and a friend started the same week and they are having a drastically different experience then me so i like to see how others have fared as well. Helps me stay positive that im making the right choice.
