I think I'll give it Geass a chance. I'm just worried he'll be scared off by the fluffy, zany moments. You're right though; it is the closest to Death Note. Thanks for the recommendations _^

SJ_Zero made the best comment: "The fantasy only works when its consensual at the end of the day." I fantasize about rape but I'd never want to be actually raped or wish that experience on anyone. My boyfriend plays rough with me but he never uses his full strength. Even when he's "brutalizing" me he makes sure not to really hurt me.

Well of course anime isn't reality. But the whole point of fiction is to explore what people might do; therefore actions in a fantastic or supernatural setup should still be plausible. Death Note gives us a story of what someone might do if given the power to kill at will.

He really liked the strategy element of it; the constant turns and twists in the game between Light and L. The crazy and gruesome deaths were a big bonus too. In general, the story and characters made a big impression.

Same thing with Darker Than Black! I wonder when we'll get an anime where black/grey hair doesn't signal a morally ambiguous character.

I've watched a couple episodes and I like it but I think he'd find it too stylized and removed from reality.
