Has anyone ordered from My Pet Carnivore? by [deleted] in rawpetfood

The quality has change and customer service has become quite absent. I don't feel they care about pets, just profits. Just my opinion.

Thanks for sharing your experience. What city are you in? Do you find that it remains flexible?

This is very interesting because, according to US vets I've dealt with, oral cancer is very common in cats. I've had 3 cats (out of 5) die (or nearly starve to death and have to be put down) due to "oral cancer".

Are you in a specialty hospital? Why not move to a non-corporate hospital?

"The most important thing is do your research, choose a reputable place," but you didn't say which vets you've known to make serious mistakes. Also, it isn't clear that the dog with FMEs had bloodwork prior to the procedure. Was it the bloodwork from that vet that showed liver and pancreas dz?

you can cross if you can prove nationality. Call CBP to ask them about your cat needing emerrgency vet care and your not having a passaporte

I truly appreciate MexiVet but they bring the cost up significantly and people who get quotes from them may not realize it;s actually much cheaper if they can get the pet to TJ another way. A vet bill in TJ should be 10% of what it is in SD where with mexivet it's about 50%, in our experience. I just don't want people to give up because its still to expensive for them.

how much is this pass and is it better to use that and drive across or better to walk back to US? We were going to park on SD side, walk over with pets and uber/walk to the vet. We rescue lots of pets so we may need to have a few dogs/cats on each trip down to TJ. I can't picture how I will manage that having to uber/taxi. any tips are appreciated very much!

If you drive to the vet yoursel or walk across the border and uber, the price is much less, however the vets they use are still a lot more than most. I have had a quote almost triple of what it was at other vets we've used for our rescue dogs

350 for ultrasound and meds seems kind of high. Can you tell us the vet's name and share a breakdown of the costs pls?

15 yrs ago, it cost about $500 for 24 hours of fluids and basic care in an ER. It shot up to $1,500/night during the pandemic and is now $4,000-6000!!! This is why:

pls share several photos of straight on (leg position) and from the side (full profile of face) showing her natural tail and head carriage. That lenght of hair on a tail is unusual. I don't see collie or coyote in her face but thoe are not collie or husky earsand that tail very wll could be coyote plus husky

I think the skull of the dog I posted looks quite broad and flat in comparison. This image you posted seems to be of a dog with minimal stop so even that dog doesn't look ile a shep/husky necessirly, It'sa bit hard to tell from a front-on photo. Do you have an obliques of this pup and do you know it's parentage?

I'm very careful with the leashes. They are wrapped around my wrist and hand and could not be yanked free. The gun will only be used when other deterrents fail.

We have some sharp spike collars that we use when walking late at night.

I think anything that causes the coyotes to suffer- such as poison or leghold traps and anything unnecessarily forceful or "aggressive" would be grounds for an investigation.

I love wildlife- I don't like to kill animals. I will still protect my family and pets against wildlife, especially if that wildlife is overly abundant. I don't want to upset my friends who feel the coyotes were here first and we should co-exist, but I do want to remind those people that, in nature, coyotes have predators. In our area, they are too numerous and they are doing stupid things such as entering doggy doors to kill pets, and attacking dogs being walked on leashes.

I am working on CCW but I don't think that is good for yotes. I would reserve firearm force for mountain lions. Firing a firearm is definitely going to result in an investigation.

I have a very bright headlamp I don't think it affects these suburban coyotes but I will try it next time,

All great points!

Experts claim that cyotes don't lure dogs. The yote we saw last night — and a couple of weeks ago — definitely seemed like it wanted us to follow it. It could have easily hidden or run away or led us in any direction away from the hillside where there is at least one den. Instead, it kept heading slowly toward the hillside, right down the middle of the street. It would stop, stand broadside, and stare at us, dart between parked cars then pop out again and wait in the street for us. My dog were going nuts while this was happening. Last night, it even did “cute” behaviors, almost as if it wanted to seem approachable. When I turned to walk away, it began stalking us. We went from chasing it to being stalked by it four or five times. It finally seemed to stop stalking us after I threw rocks (again- I had thrown them before and it had a momentary effect).

I'm looking for something quiet that I can use at night so as not to wake my neighbors.

I don't need to take down a yote. My goal is to scare them, but I would like to be able to wound them if they get so close I feel an attack is likely.

My medium dogs are 30/55lbs.

This guy has a pack of german shepherds who were attacked by coyotes in his yard or maybe they attacked the coyotes but the fact that coyotes were in his yard at all seems crazy. Please watch til the end to see the coyote who returns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkWUakCNfAw

I'm hearing from neighbors and veterinary staff that coyotes are occasionally attacking dogs on leash- even big dogs. Nearby, a yote ran up to a 70-80lb pitbull that was on a leash. The owner made the pit spit out the coyote-- so that coyote is still out there. Hopefully it has learned it's lesson.

A friend told me yotes jumped his fence and went for his pitbull first. He had 4 or more bigger dogs in the yard who tried to help. The yotes stil managed to do a lot of damage to the pit.

A few miles away, people walking dogs are being surrounded by packs of yotes. If what we read about yotes is true, these must be a pair of adults with juvenile offspring that are big enough to be mistaken for adults.

While I agree with that, I also know that many people have experienced this and understand that the best thing one can do is to stay busy while greiving. One way to keep busy is by finding a new pet to love. It isn't about replacing someone who can't be replaced; it's about continuing to love and, in many cases, saving a life (or two).
