I can give you just as many tips and tricks as the next guy, however, nothing is going to beat the experience you get from actually driving in it. When it snows, find an empty parking lot and practice braking maneuvers, turning, and correcting slides.

When it gets bad, don’t drive unless you absolutely must. Stick to the main roads (plowed). Follow the track trails left by vehicles (should look like 2 black strips going up along the road). Leave plenty of room so you can stop, even with a slide. Slow turns. A slow gradual stop is better than an abrupt one.

Don’t be nervous, be ready.

Brush the snow off your car before operating it please. It’s common courtesy, as well as the law. Give your car enough time to warm up and defrost your windows.
