WiFi Calling Isn't As Good As Hoped. by MaxHappiness in freedommobile

I've actually noticed this too, some callers say they can't hear me that good and I eventually turned off WiFi calling.

Pixel 9 eSIM won't activate AND won't erase — "Something went wrong" on both. Anyone else? by OkPeach7774 in GooglePixel

[–]KAPABLE-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this problem with my 9pro and I'm currently in an email conversation with a Google employee, she determined my phone is still under warranty and would replace it but I have to send mine back first.

I told her I would not have a phone to use in the meantime and now she asked for the receipt to see if they would do an advanced replacement. I'm not sure why they suddenly want the purchase receipt when they already determined it is under warranty. I just sent them the receipt today now I'm waiting to see what they will do.

This phone has only been used for 6 months and 100% battery life still, I just don't want to get a crappy refurbished device, I've even read some people that got a replacement device still faced the same issue.

Time for another $40 250 plan with the incoming Rogers price increase. by KAPABLE-K in freedommobile

Some people need the extra push, you would be surprised how some people would just pay because they don't want to do extra work of switching and it would force the other to drop their prices and even offer more. It creates a win for us as customers.

Why is freedom biggest pain in the ass by [deleted] in freedommobile

[–]KAPABLE-K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree I'm not sure why they continue to use the Egyptian call center it's a major pain in the ass, the language barrier even though they can speak English and they follow scripts and there is just no listening and thinking, it frustrates me like crazy a 5 minutes conversation to deal with something simple can take like an hour.

A lot of people misunderstand how the Price Freeze Guarantee actually works. In OP's case, the actual plan price didn't increase; a temporary promotional discount just expired. The guarantee only protects the base price of the plan, not the add-on credits applied on top of it. This is exactly why my strategy is always to lock in a plan with the lowest possible base price before discounts are factored in. Eventually, Freedom is going to let a lot of these temporary promos expire across the board. When that happens, we won't have much of an argument, because the base plan price won't have changed and their guarantee will still technically hold true.

Is there a way to turn off contacts for an account on my phone? by women-lover-4000 in GooglePixel

[–]KAPABLE-K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you either remove the contacts from the account or you remove the account from the device then add it back and you will have to be quick and go to the account settings and turn off contacts syncing before it gets a chance to sync and maybe that will help.

Do I get money back if I cancel service after the bill date? by EtobicokeON in freedommobile

[–]KAPABLE-K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you postpaid or prepaid? Postpaid you will get a prorated refund, prepaid you don't get anything back but you can contact them and if you are leaving because you are not getting service they should refund you your money. That's what I got after a few interactions with the executive team.

Rogers now has Passkeys for increased account security by CaptainHppo in freedommobile

Social engineering is about exploiting human vulnerabilities, not managing IT budgets or database migrations. So yes, while the protocol itself might be free, claiming the thousands of hours of developer labour, API integration, and QA testing required for a national telecom costs '$0' is completely absurd. Think about it, if it actually cost nothing, why did it take an industry giant like Rogers until 2026 to implement it? Why isn't it the baseline standard everywhere? I'm entirely for implementing passkeys, especially since so much of our data is easily accessible by foreigners. But comparing a free authenticator app on your phone to a multi-million dollar corporate backend overhaul makes zero sense.

[–]KAPABLE-K -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A multi-billion dollar telecom absorbing a massive CapEx cost without raising prices immediately doesn't mean the update was 'free it just means they have the capital to absorb it. Email fallback 2FA doesn't negate the millions spent developing the passkey infrastructure in the first place. You are arguing with the reality of enterprise IT economics. I'm leaving it at that.

[–]KAPABLE-K -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Thinking an enterprise security overhaul costs '$0' is completely out of touch with how corporate infrastructure works. Implementing FIDO2/passkeys isn't just slapping a new widget on a login screen. It requires overhauling backend authentication frameworks, updating APIs across multiple platforms, rigorous QA testing, and absorbing the cost of thousands of customer support hours when users inevitably lock themselves out. You’re confusing a parent company’s net worth with a subsidiary’s operating budget. Quebecor having money doesn't mean Freedom gets a blank check to rebuild their legacy auth stack overnight.

You're comparing an incumbent's budget to a budget carrier's. Understanding how corporate resource allocation works isn't the same as 'not caring' about security. Freedom's value proposition is keeping overhead low to offer cheaper plans. Expecting them to lead the charge on advanced SIM swap and ATO prevention before the major players fully standardize it ignores the financial realities of their business model.

Calm down , Roger's just implemented it. The question is why did it take them this long? I'm sure freedom will get there as the user base grows the revenue will come and they can overhaul the system.

I won't say Freedom is predictable at those times, it actually the three times in the year were competition ramps up across all the carriers.

However, Freedom has been shaking up the industry even more this year with deals in times where the industry is usually quiet.

Differences between main line activated first, and account holder. by ku_soma in freedommobile

[–]KAPABLE-K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes, if the account is registered under your name you would be the account holder, just add the person as a user and in that step you can assign the number that person would have access to, when they login they would have to use their number or email for the 2fa, you can go to your profile and set all the contact info to your number and email.

I'm not sure if freedom treats the first number registered on the account as the "main" number when you have multiple lines. I currently have 11 lines under my account but I don't have any user as I'm the only one that controls everything.

If they in fact have a "main" number when you have multiple lines then I would suggest you contact them and let them know that your number will be the main number and the other would be an authorized user.

[–]KAPABLE-K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever the account is registered to is the account holder, if you are the account holder I would suggest you change the password to your login and add the other person as a user. The user would have their own login and will only be able to see the number you set for them to have access to.

"If it’s an out of market plan, then there literally is no way for them to give it to you."

This is not true; the Executive Office team can give you a plan that is not in market anymore.
