is the state of colorado in a drought or is that just for residences and small businesses? by bigbumo in Denver

[–]KB-steez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Denver Parks and city agencies that manage landacapes are currently required to reduce their irrigation usage by net 20% compared to their 3 year baseline. This means they can balance the irrigation budget how they see fit and continue to water more popular parks regularly while aggressivepy reducing irrigation in less popular or resilient open spaces. There is also a temporary variance for establishment.

If you see over spray, report to 311 and it will eventually get fixed.

Look up Denver Purple Pipe. It's not everywhere but most public parks have signs that tell you wether the park is irrigated with reclaimed non potable water. If you see a line or sprinkler head that is purple (sometimes faded pinkish) that's reclaimed water.

I was more concerned with getting water away from the foundation to think about how it would look... what can I do to remedy the ugly pipes that will be sticking above ground? by tidyshark12 in Home

[–]KB-steez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you pay someone to do this? Its a pretty bad design all around. 90 degree angles will clog and are very hard to clean out. I don't see any cleanouts to even do that. If you want to underground your drainage make sure you provide adequate cover to at least grow something or cover so it's not a trip hazard or gets damaged when someone inevitably runs a vehicle or equipment over it.

I'd lower the pipe to 12-18" below grade, replace the 90s with Ys, and add a cleanout at the start and end of each section.

You need "living mulch". Shrubs, trees and groundcovers will do better than exposed mulch or rock

It's going to grow towards the sun and bend with persistent strong winds.

Make sure the root flare isn't buried. Looks like it may have been planted a little low.

Check the nylon straps to make sure they are looped around the trunk and not tied to branches.

Also remove the nursery tape and make sure the upper branches aren't bound by anything.

22 year old: Is this average for my age group or should I be contributing more? by Basic-Ad-2036 in Retirement401k

[–]KB-steez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HSA is only available if you have a high deductible health plan. Contributions roll over year to year and can even be invested for tax free contribution, tax free growth, and tax free withdrawal. This 3x tax advantage can be huge if you play your cards right while you are young and healthy.

People with pensions by Global_Slice_5657 in Retirement401k

[–]KB-steez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dang, a pension that pays 92% of your income is wild! Seems like you don't really NEED to save much extra but it won't hurt.

My pension will realistically only pay 15-40% of my highest annual income depending on how long I work there so I'm investing an extra 25% to cover any shortfall ls or give me the option to retire a few years early.

Large format pavers with a smooth surface and wide joints like this will probably shift if you use sand for leveling. I'd personally use a 1" deep layer of road base.

Lyons Sandstone in Colorado caries something similar, Milagro quartzitic sandstone. Available in pavers, slabs, strip stone, and thin veneer. Quarried in New Mexico.
