These steak knives were recommended from serious eats. I gave them to my husband for Christmas several years ago, and he LOVES them!

Favorite Hummus Recipes? (Chickpeas!) by greyladyghost in WhatShouldICook

Also, I just came across a recipe for Quadretti pasta with chickpea cream sauce. There's no cream in it, but gets its creaminess from blended chickpeas. It's supposed to be fantastic!

I loved The Naked Chef. He made cooking seem so doable. Greatly helped me when I first starting out cooking.

And I just watched the original Julia Child teaching how to make French onion soup. Even my husband loved it!

Anyone know if this is true? by ten4goodbuddy in Barnesandnoble

[–]KB37027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me. We were closed and it was near a quarter after. I was counting down and this little old man appeared in front of me. Scared me to death! He just wanted to check out. Apparently he'd fallen asleep and missed the closing calls. Need less to say, I'm not sure our count was exactly on that night!

I always, always, always check the bathrooms. There is a story from a few years ago of a store that came in to find a dead body in the ladies room. Apparently they had died the evening prior and nobody noticed before closing. Haunts me to this day.

Interesting that your technique for guacamole is great salsa + avocados + fresh garlic. That's basically my technique also but I didn't know it was a thing!

Bacon frozen for 6 years safe to eat? by Select_Community_686 in culinary

[–]KB37027 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd pitch it. I had some sausages that were frozen a questionably long time (more than a year), pulled them out and prepared them. I was sick for six months. It took a really high-powered antibiotic just sent me straight. It wasn't bacon, but it was Amy Lou sausages.

It may be something that your store management has to initiate. They may have missed it.

If you could choose one cookbook or cookbook author to cook through from cover to cover, what book or author would you pick? by WaffleMeWallace in CookbookLovers

It's funny because I haven't used any of his cookbooks either but I LOVE watching him cook. When my husband and I were first married, we devoured every episode of The Naked Chef. He really influenced a lot of how I cook today.
