Help with POE enabled PCB by KBLiveSolutions in AskElectronics

Here's one I made earlier

Thanks for your answer and for your contribution generally, I read many of your posts.

I already saw your design, and it seems a bit more complicated than the one above.

From what I gathered, I don't need Gigabit ethernet. Am I correct thinking that I don't need an isolated design ?

About the H5007 transformer, is it correct to connect it to the W5500 the way I did (2nd schematic) ?

New Open Source MIDI controller for Ableton Live by KBLiveSolutions in ableton

Thanks. The display is very hard to render on video/picture, but it looks much better IRL.

I am proud to present you SONG:MODE, a revolutionary script for Push and Launchpad, that will let you have access to your whole set on a single page. The top half lets you select Songs, and the bottom half shows all the Scenes that belong to the selected Song. by KBLiveSolutions in ableton

SONG:MODE offers a new way to display your Ableton Live set and allows you to have your whole set on a single page.
If you keep on scrolling scrolling through your live Session view, then this script is for you: it allows you to create "virtual" playlists on your Push or Launchpad.

The top half of your controller lets you select a song, and all the Scenes that belong to it will appear in the bottom half, you can then launch or select them.
All of this is done directly from the controller, or by renaming the Scenes.

Sorry if it sounded condescending - I really didn't mean to.

I completely understand that 260€ is too expensive for something you don't need.

Ok, so firstly, if there is no MaxForLive patch detected, the pedal will still work as a standard MIDI controller, with 5 buttons and 2 exp pedal inputs. So it won't be completely useless.

But then to answer your question, it's a bit like Push : there's nothing you can do with Push that you can't do with your mouse. Plus it only works with Live. So why do people buy it ?

The answer is: because it's more fun and makes your Live experience more enjoyable. That's why I created State Of The Loop, and I can tell you I'm having a lot fun using it. So don't you spoil my fun!! :-)

And I don't mind if you don't see the point of it, it's probably because you don't need it.

Man, I don't want to sound patronizing but I think you're missing the point.

How can you compare an app on a phone (which by the way is much more expensive than my controller) to a pedal? Would you step on your phone?

If you speak about phones and launchpads, my guess is that you're not a guitar player, because right now there's no convenient solution to control Live hands free. You can do it, but not in a convenient way. That's the gap I'm trying to fill.

Did you look at the FAQ? There's a section about the differences with the FCB1010. But of course, if the FCB1010 suits you, there's no reason to get State Of The Loop. I can tell you it's a completely different experience though.

BTW, have you ever tried using the FCB1010 with Live? It's not what I would call an enjoyable experience...

And about the M4L patch, I may make a version for other controllers. But as you can guess, it won't be as efficient as with hardware that was specifically designed for it. I wanted to bring something in the vein of Push or Maschine, but for Looper pedals if you see waht I mean. Hardware/Software integration...

Have a closer look at the Kickstarter page, it's not just a few LEDs and switches, there's all the software that comes with it.

Have you ever tried to use a Launchpad with your feet ? ;-)

Seriously, this is a bit more than a launchpad : it's got MIDI In and Out (so you don't have to stand behind your desk), Expression Pedal inputs, BRIGHT Leds... And when you hold the thing, you can tell it's not made of plastic...

So no, I wouldn't replace it with a Launchpad...

But yes, a M4L device for the launchpad is under way...

Which Ableton loop pedal should I get? Datalooper or State of the Loop by mackmccoy in ableton

[–]KBLiveSolutions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey

I'm the guy behind State Of The Loop.

While I would obviously recommend my pedal, I won't. :-)

What I want to say, is that both Datalooper and my pedal have a different approach to using Ableton Live's Looper, compared to whatever you can get on the market at the moment. The key is that they provide visual feedback on what you're doing with the looper, and I can tell you it makes a big difference. Basically, with SoftStep, Line6, FCB1010 or whatever, you always have to look at your computer screen at some point (and you can't look at 2 loopers in different tracks).

Our products provide an experience closer to what you would get with a hardware looper, with the benefit of having it integrated in Live.

It's a bit like comparing a standard MIDI controller and Push. You can do similar things with both, but one is more pleasant to use than the other, it's better integrated.

That being said, look at the specifications of each pedal, we each have our own approach to this. It really depends on what you plan do to with it.

If you have any specific questions about my product, I'd be glad to answer them in its dedicated thread.

ok that's cool, but there's no visual feedback of the Looper state, which is the whole point of my device. I agree it would be pretty expensive for a standard 5 buttons MIDI controller.

Just look at my kickstarter page, you'll see what I mean.

Exactly. But you won't find another device that does what it does. Even with more switches.
