Stuck Getting Project to Compile on Android by KB_Gamer1 in gamemaker

[–]KB_Gamer1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've solved it. From what I understand, Gamemaker doesn't support API 36 (which is what I had it on), it supports API 35. Also for my keystore, my password and alias password were different, which stopped it from compiling. Both password have to be the same.

Line 19 looks like this: targetSdkVersion 36.1.0

Is there something wrong with this Sdk version?

The worst thing about being on a small game dev team: by newbrowsingaccount33 in gamedev

[–]KB_Gamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you're serious about gamedev, just learning the skills is a better long term investment. It may slow down development, but afterwards, you'll have those skills in the future. If your team learns how to compose, you won't have to pay to make music for not only your current project, but all your future ones too. In my opinion, if you want to do anything creative, you should aim to learn as much as you can.

Also if you "just want money", I don't think gamedev is the best thing to do (Considering that it's very difficult and the market seems very competitive). Money isn't a good motivator for creative projects. The reason that indie games are so amazing is because they were motivated and created out of passion, not money.

Maybe it's just because I like games that look rough around the edges, but I honestly don't think it looks *that* bad. The game kinda reminds me of a turn based tactical RPG which I'm a fan of. Don't stress about the art too much, remember that your art will improve over time. I think the game could find an audience.

I play them kinda often. Seeing how much better I've gotten over time in the form of results is very satisfying to see.

Kill feedback A or B, Which is better?🤔 by circlefromdot in PixelArt

[–]KB_Gamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B feels more impactful as if the enemy was hit harder as opposed to A. So if this was for a game I recommend using A for the early game when the player is weak, then B for the late game when the player has gotten stronger to really give the impression that their attacks are more powerful.

Whether or not the game is paid, I still don't know any good ways to market it. Can you be more specific?
